TheMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)has slowly increased the slate of mutants appearing in the Multiverse Saga, but each mutant has varying levels of power. When the MCU first began in 2008 withIron Man, the rights to the mutants, and Marvel’s most famous mutant team of heroes, the X-Men, was still held by Fox. As a result, the MCU had to avoid any mention of mutants until much more recently.
Thanks to Disney buying out Fox Studios and reverting the rights to the X-Men back to Marvel Studios, Marvel has steadily been introducing more mutants throughout theMultiverse Saga with big plans to kick off a mutant era afterAvengers: Secret Wars. However, there is already a pretty impressive roster of mutants in the MCU.

10Kamala Khan - Ms. Marvel
One of the first mutants officially introduced in the MCU was Kamala Khan, who debuted in her own Disney+ series titledMs. Marvel. Now, the fact that Kamala has been revealed to be a mutant in the MCU is actually a controversial point in and of itself, because it’s a shift away from the comics which have frequently shown Kamala to be an inhuman person whose powers were made manifest through Terrigen mist.
The MCU clearly has different plans for Kamala, and with her power change to being able to manifest and control hard light, as opposed to the comic book powers, she remains a wildcard. Despite this, she is also one of the least experienced fighters and heroes to appear in the MCU. This leaves her in last place in terms of her threat level.

9Beast - Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Next up,Beast, played by Kelsey Grammer, was initially introduced inX-Men: The Last Stand, and again inX-Men: Days of Future Past. While the character did not get much time to develop their story, they proved an exciting part of the Fox universe, and the decision to bring the character back in the post-credits scene ofDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswas very exciting.
Despite his name, and his intimidating physical appearance, Beast is much more concerned with matters of science and politics as opposed to fighting. Beast is a genius who advocates for Mutant Rights, and ha even served in high-ranking government positions promoting human-mutant relations. As a result, Beast eschews violence, and prefers to settle things in a more diplomatic manner.

8X-23 - Deadpool & Wolverine
However, one mutant who is not afraid to bare her claws is Laura, aka X-23. Laura is the biological daughter of Logan, aka Wolverine, and after being introduced in the 2017 film,Logan, she arrived in the MCU when she played a pivotal role, guiding Deadpool and Wolverine to escape the void. While she was always a ferocious fighter, Laura learned to be a leader while in the Void.
As part of a small resistance force, Laura teamed up with a handful of heroes who opposed the control and rule of Cassandra Nova. Despite having much smaller numbers, Laura and her friends were able to dominate Cassandra’s forces, and once again prove how tough she is as a mutant. And while Laura’s potential is great, she is still young, with a lot of room to grow and become even stronger.

7Namor - Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverintroduced another mutant to the MCU who appears to have had their powers further augmented by exposure to Vibranium through ingesting a plant that was laced with the extraterrestrial material.Namor’s abilities include extended life, winged feet, hyper agility, and the ability to survive underwater, among other things. Ultimately, these gifts positioned him as the most powerful and fierce of his people, the Talokanil, becoming their ruler.
For centuries, Namor has ruled his people, and kept their kingdom hidden from the rest of the world. On rare occasions, he has interacted with surface dwellers, but for the most part, Namor stays among his people in Talokan. He is a skilled warrior, and a noble king who is beloved by his people, and he fiercely protects those he serves.

6Pyro - Deadpool & Wolverine
As much as Namor is a king who has kept his people hidden for hundreds of years, there are other mutants like Pyro who may be viewed as less obviously powerful. But inDeadpool & Wolverine, Pyro earned a position as Cassandra’s right-hand man. On top of this, his incredible power is exemplified by how easily he manages to defeat and capture Johnny Storm, a member of The Fantastic Four.
Pyro is no king, and he fights for respect among a group of misfits, but this has also made him hungry for recognition and praise. Pyro is a threat, and underestimating his abilities could prove to be a fatal mistake. However, considering how Cassandra brutally killed him after discovering his betrayal, he may be off the table in terms of threats in the MCU, unless another variant appears in the Multiverse Saga.

5Gambit - Deadpool & Wolverine
Back to the heroes,Channing Tatum’s Gambit is one of the most underrated heroesand mutants in general. In the comics, Gambit is an extremely powerful mutant with the ability to charge objects with energy and manipulate them in a variety of ways. This is often showcased as Gambit throwing exploding cards, but his powers are significantly more complex than what has been shown on screen.
Gambit’s appearance in the MCU was brief inDeadpool & Wolverine, but with confirmation that the character will return inAvengers: Doomsday, it’s almost certain that his story will begin to be expanded, and his true potential finally tapped into. His potential as one of the MCU’s most powerful mutants could very well see him rise through the ranks of this list, but in terms of his appearances in the MCU so far, Gambit earns a place just above the middle of the pack.

4Wolverine - Deadpool & Wolverine
Now, the MCU showcases a wide range of Wolverines inDeadpool & Wolverine, with the majority being played by Hugh Jackman, and one variant played by Henry Cavill. However, no matter what reality Wolverine hails from, he continues to prove his incredible strength, power, and ability to inspire fear and intimidation. Wolverine’s exceptional healing factor gives him a much longer than average lifespan, and his Adamantium-infused skeleton, which can draw three large razor-sharp unbreakable blades from each hand, makes him a real threat.
Wolverine is one of the most legendary mutants in comics and film, and his power outshines many others. This was seen in the FoxX-Menmovies when he was able to fight Phoenix when everyone else couldn’t and travel through time to save the mutants. Wolverine remains one of the most powerful mutants of all time.

3Deadpool - Deadpool & Wolverine
But when considering levels of threat, Wolverine may be a hot-head, but Wade Wilson is outright insane. Wilson, aka Deadpool, is a mutant whose healing factor may even compete with Wolverine’s. However, this is also paired with exceptional combat skills and vast experience as a mercenary. And with a deteriorating mind in a perpetual state of decay, Deadpool is a truly unpredictable anti-hero.
Fortunately, he often leans more towards being a hero, and has been able to save the world and his friends on more than one occasion. Despite all of this,Deadpool could be a major threat to the Multiverse, with his chaotic nature that could lead him to kill the entire Marvel lineup, or step up and save the day.

2Professor Charles Xavier - Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
While Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, is most often seen as a hero, the version of the character shown inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswas part of an elite superhero team known as the Illuminati. Technically, the team was made up of some of the Multiverse’s greatest heroes, but they also saw it as their responsibility to course correct the universe, and control people they perceived to be potential threats.
With Professor X serving as a part of the team, and his incredible telepathic abilities making it possible for him to find, control, and manipulate others with ease, even when doing so to large amounts of people, Charles was a threat. However, he was also the first to see that Earth-616’s Stephen Strange was worthy of trust. Unfortunately, this came too late, as he and his entire team were wiped out by the supremely powerful Scarlet Witch.

1Cassandra Nova - Deadpool & Wolverine
Last but certainly not least, Cassandra Nova is the secret twin sister of Charles Xavier. And while she is anotherOmega-level mutantlike her brother, who possesses similar telepathic abilities, she possesses none of the moral conviction of her brother. Cassandra was banished to the Void, and while there, she created a kingdom of her own, and formed an alliance with Alioth where she would offer tributes to the beast of the Void.
Cassandra wields her powers with terrifying skill in disturbing ways. Along with inserting her hands into people in order to see inside their minds, Cassandra showcases her powers by stripping Johnny Storm of his skin, muscles, and flesh in an instant with the simple flick of a wrist. By far, Cassandra was the biggest threat as a mutant in theMCU, and whether another variant appears down the line is unclear, but if she does, she will not go down easily.
