Several months ago,a WB Montreal job listingpointed to the possibility that the studio has been working on a new open world title centered around Batman that has co-op mechanics and includes “games-as-a-service” elements. While such a project has yet to be confirmed in any official capacity, fans of theDC Universecould be getting even more than they bargained for games-wise, as it looks as if two different DC Universe games are in development at WB Montreal.

According to Osama Dorias, who serves as a senior game designer for WB Montreal, he just completed work on an open worldDC Universe“main console” game, and has now moved onto a completely different project for the studio, which could be set in the DC realm as well. While Dorias didn’t provide any specific details about the current project he’s working on, he did mention his inspiration for joining up with WB Montreal was to work alongside his former Ubisoft colleague, Geoff Ellenor, who’s the company’s game director.

Based on previous rumors and hearsay, some might presume that one of the projects WB Montreal is developing is a potentialBatmantitle within theArkham-verse, but there’s also a chance thatSupermancould be the property that the team is working on. Then again, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Interactive may have decided to put WB Montreal on a totally different DC property andcould have enlisted Rocksteady Studiosto see if it can work the same magic for the Man of Steel as it did for the Dark Knight.

Taking all of this into account, it’s really anyone’s guess as to which IP from the DC Universe that WB Montreal has used for the now-confirmed open world “main console” game, and if the second project Dorias is currently working on is in fact related to any of the properties from the DC catalog. With this being the case, we will simply have to wait and see what all WB Montreal has up its sleeves for the future of theDC Universe.
