While 2022’sObi-Wan Kenobiended with a duel with Darth Vader and young Princess Leia’s rescue, there’s still plenty of room for a second season. During the Dark Times of the Empire’s rule, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s exile on Tatooine was far from boring. To that end, there are plenty of great story ideas that could be featured in a potentialObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2.
At the time of writing,a second season ofObi-Wan Kenobihas yet to be confirmedby Lucasfilm. However, Ewan McGregor has expressed his interest in returning, and there’s a wealth of ideas from both the established canon and non-canonical Legends that could be used as a foundation.To that end, here are 8 key story ideas we’d love to see in a potentialObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2.
8Commander Cody’s Return
Cody Was Part of Original Scripts
Originally, theObi-Wan Kenobiseries was meant to be a full trilogy of films. However, the less-than-stellar performance ofSoloand the dawn of Disney+ resulted in Disney and Lucasfilm shifting their strategy and going with a show instead.Nevertheless, the original scripts for theObi-Wan Kenobimovies would have featured Temuera Morrison as Commander Cody, who would have acted as a co-lead alongside McGregor’s Kenobi.
In the original scripts, it was going to be revealed thatCody had defected from the Empire and joined Kenobias an ally on Tatooine, helping him stay hidden from the eyes of the Empire. However, this arc and partnership with Cody were cut when the trilogy became a series. That said, Cody could easily show up inObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2, as his last appearance inThe Bad Batchsaw the popular Clone Commander defecting from the Empire, his final fate currently unknown.
7Obi-Wan Kenobi Reunites With Quinlan Vos
Founder of the Hidden Path
InObi-Wan Kenobiseason 1, it was revealed that Jedi Master Quinlan Vos survived the events of Order 66. Likewise, it was also confirmed that the Jedi was part of the secret network known as the Hidden Path, helping Force-sensitives and their families evade the Empire. Even more recently, theTales of the Underworldseries revealed that Vos actually founded the Path and was a central figure in its operations.
During the prequels,Obi-Wan Kenobi and Quinlan Vos were good friends, and Kenobi played a key role in greeting Vos reinstated to the Jedi Order after his brief corruption to the dark side during the Clone Wars, an unfortunate byproduct of his attempt to assassinate Count Dooku on the high controversial orders of the Jedi Council. To that end, it would be fantastic to see the Jedi Master reunite during the Dark Times inObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2, perhaps working together in the face of a key crisis that endangers the Hidden Path.
6Darth Maul Returns
It Would Have To Be Done Carefully
One of the biggest hopes for anObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2 is, of course, the return of Darth Maul. However, this would have to be done very carefully so as not to break the existingStar Warscanon. That said, there is a way in whicha new Obi-Wan and Maul conflictcould happen with relative narrative ease.
During the Dark Times, Maul founded the major crime syndicate Crimson Dawn, operating in the shadows and planning to one day exact his revenge on his old master and his new apprentice, Darth Vader. However, by the time we see Maul inRebels, Maul is in exile. No longer the head of Crimson Dawn, Maul has made Obi-Wan Kenobi the focus of his rage and hate.
Keeping that in mind, perhapsObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2 could finally explain this status quo change by having Maul and Kenobi meet before their ultimate and final duel inRebels,where Maul finally meets his end. However, this earlier duel would have to occur somewhere besides Tatooine, so as not to break theRebelscanon. After all, the bulk of Maul’s time inRebelssees the former Sith searching for his old foe before he and Ezra Bridger finally discover Kenobi’s location after combining a Jedi and Sith holocron.
5A Meeting With Ahsoka Tano
Did Ahsoka Know Obi-Wan Was Alive?
Ahsoka and Obi-Wan Kenobi both survived during the Dark Times. Likewise, Obi-Wan was crucial in keeping the galaxy’s new hope and the future of the Jedi safe, while Ahsoka was crucial in the formation of the Rebel Alliance as “Fulcrum”. They also both dueled Darth Vader, andObi-Wan and Ahsoka both damaged Vader’s mask, revealing the man behind the machine.
That said, we still don’t know if they ever crossed paths following the end of the Clone Wars. Considering how closely they worked together during the Clone Wars and their shared bonds with Anakin Skywalker, it would certainly be a heart-wrenching reunion if the two of them were to reunite during the Dark Times in a potentialObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2.
4Obi-Wan’s Training With Qui-Gon Jinn
“We’ve Got A Long Way To Go”
As seen at the very end ofObi-Wan Kenobiseason 1, Obi-Wan’s training with the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn had only just begun. As such, it would be amazing to see this training in detail and learn more about what it takes to retain one’s identity within the cosmic Force to become a Force ghost after death. Likewise, you can never have too much of Liam Neeson inStar Wars.
3Clone Wars-Era Flashbacks
Live-Action Kenobi With Clone Armor
Ewan McGregor once said that he’d love to take part in a Clone Wars-era flashback, specifically one where he could sport Kenobi’s clone-armor look. 2023’sAhsokafeatured young Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker in live-action flashbacks featuring the Battle of Ryloth, the Siege of Mandalore, and more. As such, it would be great to see Obi-Wan Kenobi getting the same treatment as well, perhaps fighting alongside Anakin, or even Commander Cody.
2Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Black Krrsantan
A Conflict From The Canon Comics
In the canonicalStar Warscomics from Marvel, it was revealed that Luke Skywalker recovered Obi-Wan’s journals from his home on Tatooine. In these writings, Obi-Wan cataloged his time in exile watching over Luke,including when Jabba the Hutt sent the Wookiee gladiator and bounty hunter Black Krrsantan after the hermit who’d been protecting the Lars homestead from the Hutt’s oppressive water taxes. Seeing how the Wookiee made his live-action debut inThe Book of Boba Fett, I could easily seeBlack Krrsantan’s confrontation with Obi-Wanserving as the perfect opening scene that kicks off a potentialObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2.
The Rogue Tusken Raider Jedi
In Legends, A’Sharad Hett was the son of a Jedi Knight who went into exile and became a Tusken Raider warlord on Tatooine. Eventually, A’Sharad Hett was taken in by the Jedi Order and trained by Ki-Adi-Mundi. Surviving Order 66, A’Sharad returned to Tatooine and the Tuskens, fighting back against moisture farmers encroaching on Tusken lands and planning his revenge against the Empire.
However, A’Sharad eventually encounters Obi-Wan Kenobi protecting the Lars homestead. Sensing that A’Sharad was dangerously close to the dark side, Kenobi begged Hett to stop his campaign, but the former Jedi-turned-Tusken warlord wouldn’t listen. The pair dueled, resulting in Hett losing his arm and his mask being removed, shameful acts in the eyes of his clan, who subsequently turned on him. Hett then left Tatooine in exile, becoming a bounty hunter and decades later,a Sith Lord known as Darth Krayt.As such,Obi-Wan Kenobiseason 2 would be the perfect vehicle to reintegrate Hett’s story back into theStar Warscanon.
