In his beloved manga series,My Hero Academia, Kohei Horikoshi introduced readers to an exciting new world filled with amazing characters and a memorable storyline. Deku’s quest to become the greatest hero in history quickly becameone of the best-selling series of all time, and with good reason, as it is an incredibly compelling journey.

Nonetheless, despite how incredibly well-executed the story ofMy Hero Academiais, there are still many details in its pages that have confused fans. While these topics do not truly ruin the series, they can often make it less enjoyable for the more observant viewer. Worst of all, the reasons behind these decisions were never made known.

9What Happened to the Quirk Doomsday Theory?

The Series Introduced This Concept Only To Abandon It

Despite being incredibly useful, Quirks were suggested to have become a major issue for humanity. According to experts, future generations were supposed to enter a point where their powers would be too destructive to control, resulting in civilization’s downfall. This hypothesis, known as the Quirk Doomsday Theory, is one of the biggestmysteries ever introduced inMy Hero Academia.

Although prominently displayed at various times throughout the story, this plot line was never properly resolved. The epilogue of the series did not even address the problem, almost as if it had been completely forgotten by the author. Despite many theories explaining thatToga’s Quirk was the resolution of this big mystery, this was never properly confirmed by Horikoshi.

8Where Are All the Quirkless?

Deku Cannot Be the Only Quirkless Kid in His School

Deku might have become one of the mostpowerful characters inMy Hero Academia, but his origins were quite tragic. According to him, he was one of the few unfortunate people on the planet to have been born without a power, referred to as Quirkless. This condition is rare, only present in 20% of the world’s population, making them a minority.

When taking that percentage into account, it becomes clear that many more people should have been born Quirkless. 20% of the population is approximately 1.6 billion people, making it almost impossible for Izuku to have never encountered another child like him. The only other confirmed Quirkless characters in the show were Melissa, All Might, and Aoyama.

7Why Did Bakugo Never Face Consequences?

The Boy Used To Be a Cruel Bully

Bakugo Katsuki hasone of the best and most memorable redemption arcsin all anime. He began his journey as an arrogant boy with delusions of grandeur, seeing everyone as inferior. As such, he believed it was his right to belittle, torment, and often physically harm those who opposed his views, with Deku being one of his preferred targets.

The most horrifying moment in the series was Bakugo inciting Midoriya to jump off the roof,a scene that even Horikoshi agrees went too far. Katsuki might have shown that he could be better during the final arcs of the series, but even then, it is appalling to consider that he was never reprimanded for his behavior, making it seem like he did nothing wrong.

6How Much Money Does U.A. Have?

Does the School Have Unlimited Resources?

As the most prestigious Hero Academy in Japan, the country’s government had a vested interest in ensuring that U.A. High worked at maximum efficiency. The school is among the most technologically advanced buildings in the world. Students could train in enormous fake cities, practice against hordes of robots, and create support items that far exceed the technology humans have access to today.

Yet, despite possessing these extremely expensive tools, the academy never seems to run out of money. The reason behind this unlimited source of income is never explained, not even by hinting at the government giving the school money. This becomes even more confusing when thinking about how expensive Toshinori saidhis iconic Armored All Might suitwas, despite being like other inventions made by the Support Department.

5Why Was Deku Not Properly Recognized by the Government?

Japan’s Savior Should Not Have Been Forgotten

The battle against Shigaraki and All for One was the climax of the Final War arc ofMy Hero Academia, during whichmany brave heroes and dangerous villains died. Deku was vital for the good guys to win in the end, not only sacrificing his Quirk but also his body and well-being. Without Izuku there, the heroes would undoubtedly have fallen under the might of the Symbol of Evil.

Still, even after becoming the true savior of Japan and arguably the world, Deku never received the proper respect he deserved. His friends and colleagues remained by his side as much as possible, going as far as to buy him a suit of armor that could help him regain his power. Japan’s government did not help with the expenses and never acknowledged his contributions to the point where people began to wonder if he was even real.

4Why Was Mineta Never Expelled?

His Behavior Goes Against Everything Heroes Believe In

While not all themembers of Class 1-A were equally powerfulor relevant to the story, Aizawa’s students were undoubtedly all true heroes at heart. They were always willing to put themselves at risk to protect the innocent, fight for what they believed in, and bring peace to the world. There was only one major exception to this rule, one student whose attitude and desires were truly despicable: Minoru Mineta.

The shortest member of Deku’s class was also the least heroic, in several regards. Not only was Mineta infamous for often sexually harassing the girls in his class, but he was also shown to be quite cowardly. His reprehensible actions against his female classmates should have caused Aizawa to take some action against him. Mineta was also quite cowardly early in the series, ready to abandon his friends and allies at the first hint of danger.

3How Do People Figure Out Their Quirks as Children?

Some Powers Have Extremely Specific Activation Requirements

Throughout the story of theMy Hero Academiaseries, fans were introduced to a plethora of interesting Quirks. While a large majority of themore powerful abilities used by the castwere quite easy to understand, this does not hold for every character. Some people, like Momo Yaoyorozu, have activating conditions that no child would ever think about, as they are not only complicated but far too advanced for a young child.

Nonetheless, the most frustrating power comes from Stain, who needs to drink the blood of a person to stop them from moving, with the effect varying according to their blood type. Unless the villain was randomly drinking blood as a child or decided to attack another person while still young, there is no reason for him to learn about how his powers were supposed to work.

2Why Did Humanity Stop Progressing?

The World Looks as It Did 1000 Years Ago

At first glance, the world ofMy Hero Academiamight not look too different from the one readers are familiar with. Besides humanity having powers, it seems as if technology, politics, and even countries stayed the same. This becomes concerning when thinking about the fact that the series is supposedly set several decades in the future. Many fans have theorized that the advent of Quirks caused humanity to stop progressing.

Chapters #407 and #408,which reveal the terrifying origins of All For One, suggest that the war between Quirkless and people with Quirks might have caused too much destruction. However, even if this were the case, several decades have passed, making it hard to believe that humans did not continue progressing after the battle ended.

1Why Are Heroes Not Held Accountable?

Public Servants Were Free To Break the Law

As expected in a world where superpowers are the norm,My Hero Academia’s civilization revolved around the concept of heroes. From childhood, people were taught to idolize people like All Might or Endeavor, famous for being among the strongest and most successful fighters. Yet, whenever a hero did something that would break the trust and admiration of the people, they were seldom held accountable.

The best example of a character facing consequences was Endeavor, whose abuse of his family became public thanks to Dabi’s plan. Although the series depicted Enji apologizing to Japan’s citizens, nothing much changed for him; he remained the number 2 hero and was not punished in any major way. Worst of all was Hawks, who killed a man in cold blood, and afterward became one of the most important leaders of the world.
