The casting for theHarry Potterremake’s Golden Trio has officially been announced, and this news gives us a great reason to watch an upcoming movie starring Golda Rosheuvel and Nick Frost. As expected, the young actors who will be playing Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley in the upcoming HBO TV remake are relatively unknown. The same had been true of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, who had minimal, if any, acting experience before they were cast in theHarry Pottermovies. Of course, they didn’t stay unknown for long.

Warner Bros. Discovery announcedon June 09, 2025, thatthe parts of Harry, Hermione, and Ron have been given to Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout, respectively. These three preteens are about to grow up right on screen, just as theirHarry Pottermoviepredecessors did. Before long, their names will become commonplace. For now, however, we know very little about them. Stanton previously starred in the West End production ofMatilda the Musical, but Stout has no other prominent acting credits. McLaughlin, on the other hand, has his first movie releasing this year.

Growfollows Rosheuvel as Dinah, a cranky farmer who takes her town’s annual pumpkin-growing contest very seriously. The competition becomes far more complicated, however, when Dinah is forced to take in her orphaned niece, Charlie (Priya-Rose Brookwell), who has a mysterious connection to plants. The family comedywill release in the fall of 2025, which makes sense considering its pumpkin-growing premise. An official release date has yet to be announced, butGrowis expected to hit international theaters, with a UK-only streaming debut on Sky Cinema.

Grow Can Give Us Our First Look At The New Harry Potter

We May Even See Our New Harry & Hagrid Interact

Filming for HBO’sHarry Potterremake is expected to begin this summer, and season 1 is unlikely to premiere on HBO Max until 2027. This means we still have quite a wait before we can see McLaughlin step into his new role as the Boy Who Lived. However,Growcan serve as our first chance to see the actor on screen. Althoughit appears that McLaughlin will only play a small part, the film could give us just a glimpse into why this boy was cast instead of the other several thousand who auditioned.

We can also hope that McLaughlin’s character will have some contact with Frost in 2025’sGrow. The dynamic between Harry Potter and Rubeus Hagrid is one of the more memorable and heartwarming inHarry Potter, soMcLaughlin and Frost’s first movie together is a rare opportunityto see what would essentially be an unofficial chemistry test before the TV show’s release. Interestingly, this is similar to how things worked out with Daniel Radcliffe’s first acting credit,David Copperfield, which saw him work withMaggie Smith prior to their roles inHarry Potter.

Overall, whileGrowwill most certainly be of a very different flavor than HBO’sHarry Potterremake, it may be worth checking out this family comedy movie. Actors like John Lithgow and Frost have extensive experience to prove they will do their newHarry Potterroles justice, but the young new stars are a different story.Growcan at least provide us with a quick peek at what we are in for.
