Nintendo has announced a release date for its next smartphone game,Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.Originally teased with a “late November” release date, Nintendo is making good on that promise by releasing the game worldwide on November 22nd, 2017.

It been just four weeks since Nintendo officially revealedAnimal Crossing: Pocket Campfor Android and iOS devices. The mobile game will follow the same structure as past games in the series and will contain many of the same tropes, with a few minor exceptions. Players will still take on the role of a newcomer, but they won’t be in charge of an entire town this time around. Instead, they’ll be running their own campsite, but will once again be assisted by the adorable Isabelle.

Collecting bugs, fishing, picking fruit, and other activities will return in theAnimal Crossingmobile game.Socializing and doing errands for the other animal denizens will earn players rewards, which are typically cosmetic items used to decorate their campsite. This routine of daily chores is the core of theAnimal Crossingseries and it fits in perfectly with the mobile game model.

As for what’s new,Animal Crossing: Pocket Campwill be the first game in the series to include microtransactions. Players can spend real money on in-game currency called Leaf Tickets. It’s worth noting that these can also be earned by just playing the game as well. Once a player has accumulated enough Leaf Tickets, they can spend them in Tom Nook’s shop on a selection of items, or they can be used to speed up the game’s various timers. The character of Tom Nook has thrived on player debt since the series began, and is seen as the embodiment of capitalism in the game, so players imagine that microtransactions are a welcomed addition for the greedy little critter. They’ve even taken to social media to joke about Mr. Nook’s reaction to the news and essentiallyturned the character into a meme.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Campwill release June 12, 2025 for Android and iOS devices.
