One major aspect ofApex Legendsis the game’s incredible room to grow, as the developer Respawn Entertainment has made it clear that it wants this new battle royale to be around in the long-term. To do so, the developer has mentioned plans of new maps, new characters, andeventual cross-playthat will surely add to the longevity of the game. Another major change, one commonly found in battle royale games, could be the addition of operable vehicles.
This appears to be on the docket according to recent data mines of game files. What’s more is that this vehicle appears to be somewhat unique in the battle royale genre, even when compared toFortnite’s shopping cart or the water-based vehicle inBlack Ops 4.It seems thatApex Legendsis set to get a hoverbike at some point in the future, which sounds like a solid option for squads skirting the ring, especially ifbigger mapsever do come into play.
For now, it appears that this hoverbike is only actually available toApex Legendsdevelopers, as there is surely a lot of testing and bug squashing involved. It’s also worth mentioning that this could even be dropped by the developers if they do not determine it to be a solid addition to the game, in a fate similar toTitanfall’s iconic mechs or wall-running.
All of this makes it clear thatApex Legendshas a lot on its plate, with season one of the battle royale game officially beginning in March. It seems likely that many of the additions listed above come at some point during this season, as well asthe teased 9th and 10th characters.
When considering the ambitious plans of Respawn, it seems thatApex Legendsis on pace to be the next big thing in gaming, and if manages to pull off the above, then it will likely cement its place in the battle royale genre.
