Today Respawn Entertainment introducedApex Legends' first post-launch new weapon, theHavoc Energy Rifle. The Havoc is officiallyApex Legends' very first hitscan weapon, meaning there’s no bullet drop or time-to-hit in Selectfire Receiver attachment-enabled charge mode. Players can log in toApex Legendson any platform and start looking for the Havoc to spawn just like other weapons right now.
Off the ground, the Havoc is a full-auto energy rifle with a brief build-up time between pulling the trigger and when bullets start flying. That brief build-up time is why the Havoc has, alongside the Hemlok, the highest damage-per-shot inApex Legendsin auto-fire mode.
Making the Havoc even more unique, thenew gunis the first in the game to be able to utilize two different hop-ups. Each hop-up attachment will result in a completely different playstyle with the weapon, both likely to shake up theApex Legendsmeta. The Turbocharger hop-up will get rid of the brief build-up required before firing, making the Havoc one of the scariest auto-fire weapons in the game. The second hop-up attachment, the Selectfire Receiver, shifts the Havoc from auto-fire to a single powerful charged beam similar to the classicQuakerailgun.
With the release of the Havoc gun inApex Legends, Respawn has begun delivering on its promise of continued post-launch content drops. Battle royale games can live and die based on the amount of support they receive post-launch, because an online multiplayer game without new content loses its audience fast. If anything,Apex Legendsis ahead of schedule, as new content was only announced to be delivered once March’s Season 1 began.
On February 5, Respawn revealed its post-launch content roadmap forApex Legends. Season 1 is planned to start in March with subsequent Seasons following every three months. Each Season will feature a brand new Battle Pass, new Legends, weapons, and general loot. MostApex Legendsplayers were on board with that schedule, so to see a new weapon introduced so quickly is testament both to the game’s success and to Respawn’s dedication to ensuring the game thrives.
Apex Legendsis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
