Comedy Central has released a new trailer forBeavis & Butt-Headseason 3 and revealed the release date of the upcoming season. Though it originally aired in 1993,Beavis & Butt-Headgot a revival series that began in 2022. It quickly became one of thebest shows on Paramount+, and it was popular enough thatBeavis & Butt-Headis already gearing up for its third season.
AsVarietyconfirmed,Beavis & Butt-Headseason 3 will premiere on Comedy Central on Wednesday, September 3. The first two seasons of the revival aired on Paramount+, but season 3 has switched to Paramount’s main comedy broadcast channel.Comedy Centralalso released a trailer forBeavis & Butt-Headseason 3 that teases some of what’s in store.

The trailer showsBeavis and Butt-Head offering to purchase the band Metallica, removing Butt-Head’s braces by hitting an apple out of his mouth, Beavis getting hit by a car, and more. It also includes footage of both Smart Beavis and Smart Butt-Head as well as Old Beavis and Old Butt-Head being tased, getting fat, and more.
The clearest takeaway fromBeavis & Butt-Headseason 3’s news is that the show hasn’t lost any steam.Beavis & Butt-Headis still chock-full of stupid jokes, preposterous situations, and general debauchery from its iconic main duo. It’s also proof thatBeavis & Butt-Headis as popular now as it was 30 years ago, and could continue as long as Mike Judge wants it to.

Beavis & Butt-Head’s September 3 release date also means that Mike Judge will have two notable cartoon revivals releasing just months apart from each other on different streaming services. The upcomingKing of the Hillrevival seriesis set to premiere on Hulu on August 4. It may even be a chance for the long-consideredBeavis & Butt-HeadandKing of the Hillcrossover.
Paramount may also have some skin in the game here. Paramount has had very public problems withSouth Park, and the company clearly wants to position its streaming service as a home for adult animation.Shows likeBeavis & Butt-Headhelp accomplish that, and it’s clearly been a success for Paramount. That, combined with Mike Judge’s seeming inability to fail, could mean his other shows - likeDaria- could experience a revival soon.
One of my favorite parts ofBeavis & Butt-Headis how well it’s tailored to mocking current events, and I’m supremely confident that season 3 is going to continue that trend. The revival series has already tackled everything from escape rooms to Amazon, and there are plenty of absurd things that have happened in the two years the show has been off for it to satirize.
No matter what happens in the world, you can count on Beavis and Butt-Head to be as dumb as possible, attempt to score, and rock out.
More broadly, however,Beavis & Butt-Headhas almost become a comforting presence to me. No matter what happens in the world, you’re able to count on Beavis and Butt-Head to be as dumb as possible, try to score, and rock out.Beavis & Butt-Headseason 3 clearly understands the allure of the show, and I can’t wait to get more of it.
