As filming wraps onThe Boys, Karl Urban has said his goodbyes to therest ofThe Boys' cast.Having first premiered in 2019, the show is apopular Prime Video superhero satirewhich pokes fun at the media, politics, and the very concept of superheroes. Urban played the bitter anti-supe activist Billy Butcher through all five seasons.

The final season isexpected to premiere in 2026, though the official date has not been confirmed. Throughout the show’s run, Urban appeared alongside Antony Starr (Homelander), Jack Quaid (Hughie), Erin Moriarty (Starlight), Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko), Cameron Crovetti (Ryan), and other stars. While sharing a picture of himself and Quaid on the beach in full costume, Urban offered a heartfelt response toThe Boys' upcoming ending. He described the show as a “life changing ride”, whiledescribing the final season as “FARKIN BIBLICAL”. He was especially thankful that he had the chance to officially wrap filming on the beach in Hawaii.

What Urban’s Goodbye Means For The Boys

The Cast Has Been Together For Nearly A Decade

Urban emphasized thathe has been part of the show for eight years, and that can be difficult for any actor. He spent nearly a decade tied to the same consistent project, which carried the cast through the COVID-19 pandemic, massive changes in Hollywood, and skyrocketing popularity. The show has been an extraordinary success, and it is now officially ending.

The Boysitself has been in development for far longer than the eight years that the main cast has been involved. The rights to the controversial Garth Ennis comic’s adaptation circled through Hollywood for over a decade before it was approved by Prime Video.Showrunner Eric Kripke was officially recruited in 2016, and he will also be ending his run.

The cast will still continue to promote the seriesthrough its extensive marketing campaigns, so Urban will not need to worry about when the next reunion will be. Unfortunately, it does mean that the entire cast will never again be meeting to see Homelander face off againstthe rest of the Seven.

Our Take On Urban’s Goodbye To The Boys

The Show Is Ending At The Right Time

While it is sad to say goodbye to the show while it remains at its height, it is also difficult to deny thatKripke is making the right decision. After all, he is leaving no opportunity for the show to overstay its welcome. Homelander has become so powerful that his villainy will only become tiresome if it continues much longer.

OtherThe Boysshows are in development, includingThe Boys: MexicoandVought Rising.

Kripke has already seen one of his shows continue past its original plan, asSupernaturalran for over a decadeafter his five-season pitch wrapped up. His decision to endThe Boysnow is likely influenced by that show’s somewhat meandering ending. As disappointing as it is to see the main show ending, it is good to end it now.
