A good entry point for newbies
Today is just aBorderlandsday, it would seem. Not only did thethird episode of the stellarTales from the Borderlandsrelease today, but now we have word that the mainline loot-shooters will be doing the wholeHumble Bundlething.
It’s hard to imagine there are people out there who want to play 2009’s initial entry in the series and haven’t yet, but for any of you out there, you’re able to do it for cheap at the moment. For a dollar or more you can getBorderlandsand the first three DLC packs:The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned,Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, andThe Secret Armory of General Knoxx. All of these are available for Windows only.

Paying more than the average (less than five bucks right now) nets a buyerBorderlands 2, Gaige the Mechromancer, Krieg the Psycho, one of the pre-order bonus areas, and a coupon for 75% offBorderlands: The Pre-Sequel. These are available for Linux and Mac in addition to Windows.
Going in whole skag at $15 gets all of the above along with theBorderlands 2Season Pass (Captain Scarlett’s Pirate Booty,Mister Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage,Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt, andTiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep), a level cap increase, and the fifth Headhunter DLCSir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax.

Notably missing from the lists above areBorderlands‘ fourth DLC pack,Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution, the first fourBorderlands 2Headhunter packs, and any ofThe Pre-Sequel‘s downloadable content. I expect some of those to be added in after a week, though Gearbox and Humble may throw in some surprises. Keys for someTales from the Borderlandsepisodes would really seal the deal here were they to show up.
