Friedle: I hated Cory, but I think you’re supposed to. But he was just the worst version of Cory you’ll ever see ever. It’s just terrible.

Fishel: This is definitely the worst of the worst version of Cory I think we’ve ever seen consistently through an entire episode. So much so that the way he grabs Topanga’s shoulder — and you’re able to hear in my voice because I’m talking […] — he grabs me by the shoulder and you can hear that there’s enough force […] that it changes the way the words are coming out of my mouth. Like, my breath changes. It’s just it’s not a good Cory.

For the majority of season 6, it’s been a lot of our favorite type of Cory. And then every now and then, they throw in an episode like this.

What This Valentine’s Day Episode Means For Boy Meets World

Cory Acted Out Of Character

Boy Meets Worldseason 6, episode 16, finds Cory organizing a romantic holiday for him and Topanga. However, their plans are partially derailed when Topanga arranges a baby shower for Amy(Betsy Randle), which would separate them for some of Valentine’s Day, and Cory decides to intervene.

While Cory has been known for his charm and humorous personality,“My Baby Valentine"sees him display self-regarding tendencies.Topanga attempts to show support for Amy during her pregnancy, yet Cory remains completely focused on spending time alone, and, as Fishel commented, the way he grips Topanga’s arm in one scene is noticeable.

Cory’s behavior may have come from a place of wanting to strengthen and repair his and Topanga’s relationship as an engaged couple, following the disastrous ski lodge incident, when he kissed another girl. But still, Cory’s lack of concern for his mother during theBoy Meets Worldseason 6 episode is a bad look.

Our Take On The Boy Meets World Valentine’s Day Episode

Cory Could Have Handled Things Differently

Cory should have cooperated and been open to Topanga and his family spending time together, especially because she informed him that their Valentine’s Day plans would not have to change. Amy suddenly going into labor affects the day for everyone, butCory does appear to snap out of it when learning about the complications surrounding his newborn brother.

Friedle and Fishel have a point in saying that this was a poor presentation of Cory, but luckily,Boy Meets Worldfeatures many storylines where Cory’s positive traits are on display.
