In recent years video games have become a huge part of San Diego Comic-Con, and this year’s edition of the event is just a matter of weeks away. Now, Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that there it has big plans to showcaseCall of Duty: WW2at the convention.
Call of Duty: WW2is undoubtedly one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the year, and today marks four months to the day until its scheduled launch date. We saw plenty of the game at E3 last month, but we’re sure to see a whole lot more as we edge closer to November.
Sledgehammer Games confirmed its SDCC plans on the inaugural episode of the CODCast, which hit YouTube late last week. While no specifics were given as to what the developer plans to show, it seems that Call of Duty fans will want to keep an eye on the event when it descends upon the San Diego Convention Center from July 20 to July 23.
It’s possible that the studio could be preparing to present a brand new trailer, or some new information on the game’s campaign. However, there’s also a good chance that attendees might be able to try outWW2for themselves, given the team’s focus ondelivering a new takeon the series' tried-and-tested multiplayer component. If nothing else Sledgehammer should be part of a Comic-Con panel wherein the devs can talk to fans about the game and they can ask questions. PastCall of Dutygames have had their own Comic-Con panels, but the reveals for each have been different.
There will certainly be no shortage of gamers interested in the FPS at this year’s Comic-Con. Last year, a panel aboutPokemon GOhad to beupgraded to a larger venuebecause of demand from attendees, which demonstrates the focus on interactive media that the event has established over the past decade.
Returning to historical warfare is something of a risk for the Call of Duty franchise, butWW2looks set to be warmly received by fans. Given that Sledgehammer Games seems eager to show off the title wherever possible, it seems that the studio is confident that it has a hit on its hands.
Call of Duty: WWIIis scheduled to launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 22, 2025.
