The anime adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’sChainsaw Manwill premier sometime in 2022. The announcement was made during the Jump Festa ‘22 event on Saturday.
A video announcement alongside news ofFujimoto launching the manga’s second partin Summer 2022 was also released.

MAPPA will be producing the highly anticipated anime series. The studio best known for its work onAttack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen,and other prominent titles has assembled a veteran staff to handle the project. Ryū Nakayama will direct the series, with Hiroshi Seko handling the scripts. Kazutaka Sugiyama, kensuke ushio, and Naomi Nakano will serve as character designer, composer, and color key artist, respectively.
Nakayama is best known for his work onBlack CloverandJujutsu Kaisen. Seko has written scripts forAjinandAttack on Titan’sfinal season. Sugiyama has notably contributed character designs toMushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, ushio has composed music forDEVILMAN crybaby,Liz and the Blue Bird,A Silent Voice, and Nakano has done color design forSword Art Online: Alicization,Sword Art Online the Movie: Progressive - Aria of a Starless Night, andGlasslip.
Fujimoto has been active since 2011, first finding success withFire Punchbefore moving on toChainsaw Man.The dystopian dark fantasy ran in Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ magazine from 2016-2018, amassing 8 collected volumes. Viz Media publishes the series in English.
Chainsaw Man’sfirst part ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 2018-2020. The series has amassed 11 collected volumes so far and has been nominated for various awards over the years. The series placed 2nd in the 5th Next Manga Award’s Print category and won the 2021 Harvey Award for Best Manga, the 27th Manga Barcelona, and 66th Shogakukan Manga Award for Best Shonen Manga.
The manga’s second part will be releasedsometime during summer 2022. The second part will kick off with the “School Arc”, and will move from Weekly Shonen Jump to the Shonen Jump+ magazine. Viz Media publishes the series in English.
