Fans of Hannibal Lecter will be excited to see their favorite heroine back again in a new trailer forClarice. CBS released the trailer on January 10, showing off Aussie actress Rebecca Breeds in the titular role. The atmosphere looks spooky and dark, making it seem likeClaricewill be leaning strongly into thehorror elements previous Hannibal worksalso featured. This is a story that hasn’t been told before, and will hopefully show another side to the character.
Clarice will be set one yearafter the events ofThe Silence of the Lambs, and tells the story of Agent Clarice Starling after she returns to the field. She heads to Washington, D.C. and again is pursuing serial killers while being haunted by her experiences with Hannibal Lecter and Buffalo Bill.

The role of Clarice Starling was of course made famous by Jodie Foster in the originalThe Silence of the Lambsfilm in 1991. She earned an Academy Award for Best Actress In A Leading Role for her efforts, with Anthony Hopkins taking Best Actor In A Leading Role forhis portrayal of Hannibal Lecter. The Silence of the Lambsalso makes history as being one of the few horror films to be recognized by the Academy, also winning Best Picture for that year.
The character of Clarice is definitely still cited as many people’s favorite female film protagonist. She made her mark as smart, strong, and tough. Hopefully, the new television show can live up to that reputation, and fans who look up to her won’t be left disappointed.
This isn’t the first Hannibal Lecter-universe television series audiences have seen, with NBC’sHannibalrunning for just over two years and becoming somewhat of a cult hit. Of course, before that, Dr. Lecter appeared in many films based on Thomas Harris’ book series, first showing up as a minor character in his novelRed Dragon. However, due to rules surrounding rights ownership,Lecter won’t be able to appear in the show, nor will he even be mentioned.
