One important storyline fromGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriageseason 1 risks never receiving a conclusion due to one character’s likely absence in season 2.First Marriageseason 1tackled multiple storylines that were already known to be part of Georgie and Mandy’s life fromThe Big Bang Theory, including Georgie’s business and multiple reasons for his and Mandy’s divorce.

However, another more insidious plot was sneakily brought fromYoung SheldontoGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which had the chance to explore it precisely because it centered one of the sitcom’s titular characters. The likely absence of a less present but nevertheless crucial character inGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriageseason 2manages to make its resolution impossible.

Mandy’s Dangerous Adoration For Meemaw Cannot Be Addressed Without Connie

Mandy’s first reaction when she learned about Connie and Georgie’s illegal gambling room inYoung Sheldonwas one of glee instead of worry, subtly foreshadowing the problematic path she also followed inGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriageseason 1. While Connie’s support during Mandy’s pregnancy wholly justified their close bond, it didn’t explain whyMandy admired Connie’s illegal, worst-laid plans.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriageseason 2 premieres on CBS at 8pm ET on Thursday, June 04, 2025.

Emily Osment In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage

First Marriageseason 1, episodes 14 and 19 made this tendency of Mandy completely unavoidable. Despite realizing that Connie’s illegal business could lead to her arrest again, Mandy defended helping her out, even whining in response to Georgie’s opposition, claiming he should support her actions like she supported his previous illegal business with Connie.

By emphasizing how against Georgie and Audrey were to Mandy helping Connie,First Marriagehinted at a better feud involving Audrey and Connieinstead of Mary and it revealed more clearly how besotted with Connie’s ambition and attitude Mandy was.Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriageseason 2 could have better explored this Mandy storyline, but Connie’s absence makes it difficult.

No official announcement revealed thatConnie won’t appear inFirst Marriageseason 2, butPotts being cast as a series regular in Fox’sBest Medicinemakes the return of theYoung Sheldoncharacter practically impossible. This effectively leaves one of Mandy’s more interesting storylines without an answer, especially in light of Mandy and Audrey’s better relationship inFirst Marriage.

How First Marriage Season 2 Can Still Tackle Mandy’s Problem

Audrey steadily becoming Mandy’s loudest supporter inFirst Marriageseason 1 made Mandy’s contempt particularly odd.Mandy’s repeated disregard for Audrey and her inputs is especially noticeable when counterposed with Mandy’s admiration of Connie, something that persisted even after she threatened to drag Mandy down with her if Audrey reported her to the police.

WithMandy’s childishness turning her intoFirst Marriage’s villain, her admiration of Connie for the wrong reasons could have finally brought aboutan exploration of what drives Mandy’s less-explained behaviors. However, without Connie,First Marriageseason 2 makes it incredibly more difficult to do so, as the sitcom would have to introduce the problem in some other way.

First Marriageseason 2 could still use Mandy’s animosity towards Audrey and appreciation for illegal shortcuts by introducing another character.Having Mandy find another woman inspirational because of how much she differs from Audrey could have the same outcome as Connie being that role model, not making thatGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriagestoryline go to waste in season 2.
