After an initial delay,Cyberpunk 2077’s latest update will be released on June 29, 2025. While it’s certainly exciting that update 2.3 will finally be released, there is one frustrating aspect of the update for certain players. Apparently the update won’t be ready for all players tomorrow, and some will have to wait. It almost seems as though the update should have been delayed a bit longer to make sure there weren’t any issues like that.

News ofCyberpunk 2077’s latest update, and a brief look at its new photo mode, were shared by CD Projekt Red in aCyberpunk-centered live streamearlier today. The crew also took questions on topics like the game’s new vehicles and a new quest related to them. I’d recommend checking out the full live stream if you want all the information on the upcoming update. This is also where it was announced that one platform would have towait to get the latest version ofCyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077’s Switch Update Delay Is Frustrating

Cyberpunk 2077’s Update Will Come At A Later Unspecified Time On Switch 2

As announced in the stream, theSwitch 2 version ofCyberpunk 2077won’t be getting update 2.3 at the same time as other platforms. There wasn’t an exact timing given on the delay, so it’s unclear how long Switch users will have to wait, but it is pretty frustrating that there is any amount of delay. With update 2.3 already having been delayed once, one would have thought that CD Projekt Red would have waited for it to be completely ready before launching it.

It’s additionally a bit annoying, given howCyberpunk 2077’s Switch 2 version was touted as one of the standout releases on the console. Although it’s nowhere near as disastrous asCyberpunk 2077’s initial launch, it’s still frustrating to see that one of the Switch 2’s tent pole third-party games is already proving to be behind the curve compared to other console versions. Now it feels like Switch 2 users are getting the short end of the stick.

Keeping Every Cyberpunk Player Synced Would Be More Fun

Switch 2 Players Are Left Out While Others Play Update 2.3

It would have been nice if allCyberpunk 2077players were able to experience the new update at the same time. Unfortunately, now Switch 2 users will be stuck watching other players have fun with the new update while they wait for their version to catch up. While it would have been nice to simply delay the update a bit further and release it on all platforms at the same time, I can also somewhat understand why CD Projekt Red went this route.

Cyberpunk 2077’sMac releaseis scheduled for the same day as update 2.3.CD Projekt Red likely wanted to avoid having Mac players need to install a new version of the game just a few days after the initial release. The company wasn’t about to delay the Mac release just to wait for the Switch 2 version of the update to be ready, so they likely decided it was best to just get update 2.3 out on as many platforms as possible in time.

While I can understand doing it this way, it’s still disappointing forCyberpunk 2077players on the Switch 2. Hopefully this is a one-time issue, and the Switch version of the game doesn’t continue to take a backseat to other platforms. We’ll have to see what happens with future iterations of the game.
