Dead Island 2had been a long, longtime coming before it was finally released, but the game ended up beingfairly solidin the end. Now, a full year after its release, developer Dambuster celebrates the occasion by revealing that there’s “moreDead Island 2content to come!”
According to Dambuster’s recentSteam blog post, over 7 million players have playedDead Island 2within the past year. This resulted in the delightfully efficient destruction of over 24billionvirtual zombies: a feat that was no doubt aided by the release of two expansion packs which propped the game up as months went on.The subsequent Steam releaseis sure to have helped, too, as the game was a timed Epic Games Store exclusive. Initially, only theSoLAandHAUSDLCs appear to have been planned for the game (alongside a wealth of other, smaller micro-DLCs), but more is now on the way, thanks toDead Island 2‘s success.

While Dambuster’s statement isn’t particularly loaded with details, it is clear thatsometype of content is yet to come toDead Island 2down the line. “In the following months we’ll share some exciting and long awaited new game updates, so stay tuned for more Dead Island 2 content to come,” reads the blog.
This could be taken to mean that Dambuster has some amount of bonus post-launch content in the pipeline, set to be delivered over the next couple of patches. Conversely, it could also suggest that there’s aHAUSorSoLA-sized DLC in the oven, and we just don’t have enough information to go on just yet. A full-featured new game+ mode, for example, sounds like something that’d feel natural inDead Island 2.

Fans of the zombie-slaying FPS do have something to look forward to regardless, then. More information on the what and the why ofDead Island 2‘s second batch of post-launch content will be coming relatively soon, so stay tuned.
