Kingpin’s Masterplan Revealed - What Is Red Hook’s Real Purpose?
Mayor Fisk Did Not Have The City’s Best Intentions In Mind
Wilson Fisk tried to play his cards close to the vest when it came to Red Hook. However, some of the mayor’s plans for it ended up leaking to the press aftera drunk Daniel did not realize he had given the information to BB Urich. Kingpin did not react well to the leak, showing how important Red Hook was to him.Daredevil: Born Again’s season finale confirmed there was way more to the location than just fixing what he claimed to be a black eye on the face of the city.
Red Hook is a free port, which means it is considered outside US and NY jurisdiction.

Over the past couple of episodes, Matt realized that Foggy knew something, which was why he was killed. His case could have damaged Fisk’s criminal empire, which led to Vanessa ordering Bullseye to kill him. During his investigation with Karen into the case Foggy was working on, they found out that Red Hook is a free port, which means it is considered outside US and NY jurisdiction. As such,Wilson and Vanessa Fisk could use it to launder money legally. That is the real reason why Kingpin put so much energy into Red Hook’s revitalization.
Everything We Learned About Vanessa’s Role In Foggy’s Death
Daredevil: Born Again’s Biggest Death Is Now Fully Explained
When Bullseye killed Foggy in the first episode of the Daredevil series, his reasoning for doing so was put into question. After all, he had bigger issues with Karen Page, not Foggy. However, all the motives behind why he killed Foggy have now been laid out afterDaredevil: Born Again’s season 1 finale. Episode 8 saw Matt realize that Vanessa hired Bullseye to kill Foggy, and so episode 9 started with a flashback of her doing just that. A year before the main events of the series,Vanessa told Poindexter that she wanted him to kill Benjamin Cafaro and Foggy.
Dex was clearly not in the best headspace. Wilson Fisk had no idea that his wife planned to free Bullseye so he could kill Foggy, so he honored his deal with Matt Murdock of not harming his friends. The reason why Vanessa had Foggy killed was simple. While taking care of “Dumb Benny’s” case, Foggy stumbled upon Vanessa’s secrets, which he had no idea of. If his plan for Benny’s defense had made it to court, his argument would have led to a light being shone on Vanessa’s use of Red Hook, so he needed to die in two days.

Wilson Fisk is the biggest winner ofDaredevil: Born Againseason 1. While there are those who oppose him, Kingpin managed to not only become New York City’s mayor, but make his dream of an Anti-Vigilante Task Force a reality before escalating that even further in the finale. By the end of the first season, the MCU series saw Fisk return to his Kingpin ways. Vincent D’Onofrio’s Marvel villain crushed Commissioner Gallo’s head with his bare hands in a brutal fashion. Fisk also expanded his control of the city, announcing that NYC was under martial lawto contain vigilantes' threat.
Kingpin has an easy solution for those who oppose him, which is putting them into cages. The most famous characters shown in such conditions are Tony Dalton’s Swordsman and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. Kingpin’s method of dealing with those against him has some real-world connections. ThroughoutDaredevil: Born Again, it has become clear thatthe MCU series has drawn parallels between Kingpin and President Donald J. Trump. During his first presidential term, Trump dealt with many claims that he was “putting kids in cages” as part of his immigration policies. Now, New York City’s mayor, Kingpin, puts his enemies in cages.

Later, Karen helps Matt find out why Red Hook is so important, to the point that Vanessa had Foggy killed over it. Now, by Daredevil’s side, Karen should have a major role in season 2, becoming part ofDaredevil’s army that assembles at Josie’s, which also includes Cherry, Angie Kim, and Josie herself.
What Happened To Bullseye?
Wilson Bethel’s Marvel Villain Is Still Alive
Bullseye had a major role to play inDaredevil: Born Againepisode 8. There, he escaped from prison and tried to kill Kingpin but was shocked to see Matt Murdock take a bullet to save the life of his biggest enemy. Surprisingly, Benjamin Poindexter barely appeared in the season finale.Bullseye briefly shows up looking sad in an old apartment with a broken windowat the end, which confirms he is sticking around. After trying to kill the mayor and being one of New York City’s costumed characters, Bullseye is likely to go into hiding from the Anti-Vigilante Task Force.
Frank Castle Is Ready To Have A Major Year In 2026
Frank Castle has a key role in theDaredevil: Born Againseason 1 finale. After rescuing Matt, the Punisher kills many corrupt cops before being apprehended by them. The episode ends with Frank being one of the characters thrown into cages by Mayor Fisk. However, a post-credits scene shows his escape plan in action, with the Punisher using his influence over a corrupt cop to get him to come closer to his cage, allowing Frank the means to escape after breaking his arm to take his keys.
The character returns in 2026 with a Punisher Special Presentation on Disney+, which will be co-written by Jon Bernthal. The project could bridge both seasons ofDaredevil: Born Again, allowing the Punisher to return to the series after going off on a solo mission, which could include the rest of his escape and the anti-hero setting the Swordsman and others free. Frank Castle’s connection to Karen and Matt makes him the perfect recruit for Daredevil’s new army inDaredevil: Born Againseason 2.
