December 2025 will mark an especially rough month forSpider-Manfans, as a fan-favorite series officially comes to its close. However, this might not be the permanent farewell Marvel is leading fans to believe, as there’s still hope waiting at the end of the Ultimate Universe.
While this year’s San Diego Comic-Con delivered more than a few epic Marvel reveals, it also came with the saddening news thatJonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto’sUltimate Spider-Manwill end, along with the rest of the Ultimate titles, asUltimate Endgamefast approaches.
Ultimate Spider-Man#24, set to release on August 06, 2025, will serve as a bittersweet Christmas present for fans. But it isn’t all bad news. During the panel, the creative team offered a sneak peek at the main cover for issue #24 (seen above) and teased what the future might hold for these characters.
Spider-Man’s Saddest Goodbye Could Set Up His Most Exciting Return
Hickman and Checchetto’sUltimate Spider-Manis one of the most beloved web-slinger runs in recent memory. So while fans expected this two-year saga to eventually wrap up, saying goodbye will still be tough. At least this ending was planned from the start, avoiding the abrupt cancellations that have ended many other great series before their time.
The creators teased shocking developments ahead forthe entire Parker family, from Peter and Mary Jane to Richard, May, and Uncle Ben. There are also major changes coming for characters outside the Parker clan, including Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, and more. Still, with the series ending, fans might wonder if any of these big changes will truly matter.
However, Marvel’s official site promises that these developments“will also create promising roadmaps for future storytelling.”This implies that the publisher may still have plans for these beloved characters or at least some of them. So whileUltimate Spider-Manis ending, it could actually be the beginning of something new.

Some fans have speculated thatUltimate Spider-Mancould end with Peter Parker getting the“Uncle Ben treatment,“meaning he might be killed off to set up his son, Richard, for his next heroic arc.
