Warning: Spoilers for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle MovieDemon Slayerfans who watched the new trailer carefully may have caught on to a horrifying hint at one character’s fate, teasing one of the manga’s darkest moments being brought to life. For those who haven’t spotted it yet, there’s one character to pay close attention to: Doma.
Doma is the Upper Rank Two demon,ranking only behind Kokushiboand Muzan himself. Doma has been around as a demon for a very long time, and has gone up against many Demon Slayers in that period, including the former Flower Hashira and Shinobu’s deceased older sister, Kanae Kocho.
Doma is known for leading a cult known as the Eternal Paradise Faith, which he was involved in even before becoming a demon, and which he uses to gather followers who will someday become his meals.
The Infinity Castle Trailer Hints at Shinobu’s Fate
The Trailer Shows Doma Kept a Souvenir of the Defeated Hashira
In the new trailer, Doma can be seen snapping open a fan, at around 37 seconds in. On his chest, in the bottom left corner of the screen, it’s possible to see a butterfly-shaped headpiece, very similar to Shinobu’s, tucked into his outfit. This headpiece isn’t actually Shinobu’s, but rather belonged toher elder sister, Kanae Kocho.
Doma once battled Kanae Kocho, the Flower Hashira, and their fight lasted all the way to sunrise, forcing Doma to eventually retreat from the confrontation. However, despite driving Doma off, Kanae Kocho was so severely injured that she died from her injuries, leading Shinobu to seek vengeance on her older sister’s behalf.
Apparently, Doma managed to steal one of Kanae’s butterfly hair decorations during the battle, something which he has held on to as a trophy in the years since. Shinobu no doubt noticed the item on his person, infuriating her and pushing her into attacking him solo.
Will Shinobu Share Her Older Sister’s Fate?
As the poison master of the Hashira, Shinobu will likely be a very difficult opponent for Doma to face. Shinobu’s physical strength is among the lowest of the Hashira, but her knowledge of poison and how it affects demons makes her a highly dangerous adversary, especially when she has a personal grudge motivating her actions.
From what’s seen in the movie trailer, Shinobu appears to be facing down Doma without backup–a bold move, to be sure. Shinobu’s desire for vengeance may well get her into some deep trouble here, and knowing how bloodyDemon Slayer’s final battle can get, there’s absolutely no guarantee that she’ll make it out the other side.
This kind of detail is certainly something that will get fans who know about the manga storyline excited when watching the film, as it makes the showdown between these two powerful combatants far more personal. The final battle with the demons inDemon Slayeris bound to be exciting, so the movie can’t get here fast enough.
