Raid teams looking for another challenge inDestiny 2’s Leviathan raid won’t want to miss the launch ofthe first raid challenge mode, going live on October 31 at 10 a.m. PDT. The first encounter to receive a challenge mode will be the Royal Pools, commonly referred to by fans as Baths.
The reward for completing this Challenge Modewill be a special emblem (upon the first time clearing that specific encounter) and a guaranteed raid drop, but things are not that easy. As with past challenges, Bungie will not detail the challenge, but there will be a notification if the fireteam fails. The Royal Pools are up first, and a new challenge mode will debut for each of Leviathan’s encounters over the next few weeks.
Currently, challenges are most efficient way to receive a raid drop inDestiny 2, considering the only guaranteed drop in both the Normal and Prestige modes is the final chest after beating Calus. All other chests within the raid can drop weapons or gear, but they are equally as likely to dole out Calus Tokens.
The challenge modes will keep players occupied well into November with a new emblem to earn with each completion. By the raid has finished one full rotation, players will be ready for the release ofDestiny 2’s first major expansion,Curse of Osiris, on August 09, 2025.
Just as challenge modes have functioned in the past, they will require raid teams to approach and complete the encounter in a special way. The game will not explain to players how to complete each challenge mode, but there will be an on-screen prompt should the team fail the challenge. If nothing else, the failure notification helps players deduce what does and doesn’t work.
Some questions remain, such as if challenge mode can be completed on both Normal and Prestige mode, and how the rewards are affected on each difficulty. Those answers are sure to arrive soon, as players descend on the first of four Leviathan challenge modes.
