At one time, fans accused Bungie of being too tight lipped about updates and changes to theDestinyfranchise. With its latestDestiny 2expansion now on the horizon, the developer isn’t holding back with its community, offering new details through a variety of means like three lengthy developer blog posts, cinematic trailers, and a new update detailinghow seasons will work going forward in Year 3. The studio has also just recently launched Cross-Save functionality between platforms with new details about what is able to transfer also arriving.

The latest revelation comes from Forbes video game writer Paul Tassi who confirmed via Bungie that seasons will be considered cross-save purchases. The sticking point is that the season must be purchased from the player’s mainDestiny 2platform to appear on other account connected platforms. Players should also note that this doesn’t include theShadowkeepexpansion, only the seasonal aspect of it. Expansions likeForsakenandShadowkeepwill need to still be purchased on each platform in order to unlock content there.

When beginning the Cross-Save process, players are asked to select their main platform, which would then transfer information like Silver, gear, and characters from there to the other selected platforms. Therefore, players who are opting in forthe Deluxe Edition ofShadowkeepshould consider purchasing it on their main platform as the four included seasons would then transfer to any cross-saved platforms as well.

Just revealed this week,Destiny 2seasons will also be coming with the newly implemented Battle Pass. Each season featuresa free and premium version of a Battle Passand by simply earning XP for playing the game, players can unlock all sorts of new items, resources, exotics, and gear by advancing through 100 ranks. Bungie made it clear that the best weapons and armor will still be locked to difficult activities, but the Battle Pass was added to emphasize the reward chase and to help players feel like they’ve made progress each time they log in.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeepreleases July 05, 2025 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
