It takes but a passing glance at Bethesda’sStarfieldto see it’s home to aphenomenal modding platform, regardless of its downsides.Star Warsmods are, as usual, the most popular choice, but Bungie’sDestinyis now a target as well, with ever-popular Exos entering the fray.

That’s right, if the news thatStarfieldis getting Year 2 DLCafter theShattered Spaceexpansion pack comes out weren’t enough to thrill you, the playable Exo race might. At least, if you’re aDestinyfan. These robotic approximations of the human form are one ofDestiny‘s most emblematic features, with the legendary Cayde-6 being a particularly popular example of what an Exo is like. This delightful modcomes from modder ExoWarlock313, who committed not only to retrofittingStarfield‘s character creator to support Exo customization, but also toturning some important NPCs into Exos themselves. The options for customization are so exhaustive, in fact, that you may straight-up recreate yourDestiny 2character if you wish to do so, which is impressive in its own right.

Turn your Starfield character into an Exo with this mod

Certainly, there’s a massive gulf betweenStarfieldandDestinyin regard to their respective gameplay and progression loops, but it’s impossible to deny that they share the same basic appeal. A gritty science-fantasy rendition of the far future, with interstellar travel being easy as pie and enemies around every corner? Well, yeah, that’s whatStarfieldandDestinyare all about. With that in mind, it was only a matter of time before someone like ExoWarlock 313 came in to portDestinycontent over toStarfield.

The aptly titled ‘Exo Playable Race’ mod therefore comes with all of the following customization options:

Not bad at all, right? It gets better, though, because playing as an Exo inStarfieldalso means you get to enjoy some of the machine bodies’ obvious boons:

Exos were, after all, designed to be more durable, versatile, and capable than your average human inDestiny, so it makes sense that this would be reflected in the mod. Naturally, there are some issues with the mod, with customization, for example, working slightly differently than it does in the base game. There’s slight clipping with some outfits, too, and apparel that does not cover arms and legs will incorrectly render your character’s skin texture. Nothing hugely game-breaking, however.

Now, if someone were to start porting overDestiny‘s delightful armor and weapon designs over toStarfield, too, that’d be just phenomenal.
