DEXTER: RESURRECTION, a continuation of DEXTER®: NEW BLOOD, takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easy. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined—and that the only way out is together.

What This Means For Dexter: Resurrection

How The Sequel Show Could Deal With New Blood’s Ending

Dexter: New Bloodendswith Hall’s character lying dead in the show after being shot by his own son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), and the new teaser playfully suggests the sequel series won’t totally be throwing this ending out. It’s possible, for example, that Dexter, despite coming back to life, finds a way to make his death appear permanent, thus giving him more freedom to live his life without constantly looking over his shoulder. Alcott will reprise his role as Harrison inResurrection, and the dynamic between father and son will seemingly be a major part of the story.

Also confirmed to return in theDexter: Resurrectioncastis David Zayas as Angel Batista. Batista will be tracking Dexter after the events ofNew Blood, suggesting he, at least, won’t be buying into the idea that Hall’s character is dead. As for the July 11 premiere, this date ensures audiences won’t have a long gap between releases, with theDexter: Original Sinprequel having only just wrapped up its story in February.Original Sinseason 2 is confirmed to be in the works, withHall also confirming thatResurrectioncould become an ongoing series.

Our Take On The Dexter: Resurrection Teaser

Hall’s Return Is Reason Enough To Be Optimistic

Though the new teaser is not actual footage of Hall inDexter: Resurrection, it is nonetheless exciting to see him back as the beloved serial killer once more. The hardest aspect of the new show will arguably be explaining how Dexter survives and escapes without it feeling too ridiculous, but, if the show can overcome this hurdle, audiences are seemingly in for more classicDexterstorytelling, just in a new location.

The originalDextercast is a major reason for the show’s success, but it’s ultimately Hall who was the most important figure. It will be interesting to see how the new setting and a mostly new supporting cast will affectResurrection’s reception with audiences. While many questions remain aboutDexter: Resurrection, an official trailer with more footage is likely not too far off.
