Few franchises in video game history have the unique and tumultuous story that theDisaster Reportseries has. It has faced real world tragedy, cancelations and even a complete change in staff and developers making the game’s title kind of ironic as well.

Miraculously, current developer Granzella has kept the survival series alive and moving forward. To celebrate a challenging year filled with both challenges and triumphs for the studio, the company released a 2020 year in retrospective article, while also giving hints about the future of theDisaster Reportseries.

Curiously, and to the joy of many in the fanbase, Granzella teased plans for the next entry in the series,Disaster Report 5.It may not be the first tease of a new game, but coming from Granzella directly, it makes it the most official.

Releasing on November 22nd 2018,Disaster Report 4was originally in development for thePlayStation 3by Irem 7 years earlier, but was delayed and then ultimately cancelled due to the real life disaster and tragedy of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. In 2014, current developers Granzella acquired the intellectual property and gave the series new life.

With the nearly unprecedented real world hurtles the developers andthe fan favoriteDisaster Reportfranchise has had to face, its hard not too want to wish success upon them. Long time fans thankfully now have the promise of a 5th entry in the series to look forward too sometime in the future.
