Doctor Who’s best known villainous alien race are finally getting their first spin off animated seriesDALEKS!as part of the multimedia crossover Time Lord Victorious.
The official synopsis reads: “The Daleks' plundering of the Archive of Islos unearths something ancient and deadly. Soon Skaro is under attack and the Dalek Emperor is on the run! Can the Daleks defeat their adversaries and regain their planet, even with help from an old enemy? Will this be the end of the Daleks?”

The teaser released on Twitter and YouTube hints that the Emperor Dalek could be the lead protagonist. Although there’s been several variations of the Emperor Dalek throughout both the classic series and the 2005 revival, the version seen here with its more rounded dome looks based on theGolden Emperor first seen in a comic stripco-written by Dalek creator Terry Nation.
Another point of interest is that a classic design Dalek can be briefly seen alongside the 2005 series' Time War Dalek redesign. Could there be a potential civil war between the Dalek factions? And could the old enemy be the Doctor or fan favorite comic character Absolam Daak,Dalek Killer? And how does it tie into the ambitious Time Lord Victorious event?
Thoughthe Doctor’s sworn enemies have had plenty of spin off comics, novels, stage plays, audio series and cameo appearances in several movies (notablyLego Batman), they’ve never had their own canon solo TV or webseries. Original creator Terry Nation kept the rights to the malevolent pepperpots and tried to get a Dalek spin off series into production, at one time partnering with ABC in 1967. However the BBC threatened to remove the Daleks from Doctor Who permanently. While a script titled ‘The Destroyers’ had been written, it went unmade until Big Finish produced an audio drama version of the proposed pilot as part of theDoctor Who - The Lost Stories: The Second Doctorboxset.
Written by James Goss and animated by Studio Liddell, DALEKS! will be comprised of five 10 minute episodes released weekly on theDoctor Who YouTube Channelin November.
