Dragon Ball Super’s fate has been largely uncertain since Akira Toriyama’s passing last spring, with the anime showing few signs of life and the manga remaining on an extended hiatus. However, that hasn’t stopped rumors from spreadingabout the series either returning or forever remaining unfinished. Fans have desperately pleaded for Goku’s story to continue, and have been met mostly with silence.

Though it might seem bleak, one very important artist is holding out hope that fans haven’t seen the last ofDragon Ball Superjust yet, and if the series ever returns, it’s likely he will be spearheading future projects. Toyotarou Claims Dragon Ball Will Survive With the Support of Fans

Before touching onDragon Ball’s future, Toyotarou first spoke about the loss of Akira Toriyama and how he handled such a tough period. He claimed he felt lost for some time, and that, thoughhe was close to the legendary creator, he felt like another one of the millions of heartbroken fans expressing their gratitude for his work. He then spoke about the series, saying:

“For me, Dragon Ball is the number one manga in the world. I don’t think Dragon Ball should end. I’m not alone in working on it. It’s the strength of fans around the world that allows this work to continue.”

Toyotarou wants nothing more than to seeDragon Balllive on, and believes that the support of fans is what will allow him to continue working on it, even if his mentor is no longer there to guide him. It’s no secret that the series spanning four decades of highly successful releases is one of the industry’s most successful titles,but it seems that fan support is needed now more than ever.

He continued, adding,“As a manga artist, what I would like in the future is to continue evolving and always improve, to have multiple approaches, to create funnier manga, to improve my drawing and storytelling skills. That’s my goal.”
