Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisenis coming to the Nintendo Switchin less than two weeks time on April 23, and it’s coming with some exclusive content. As announced by Suda51, Travis Touchdown from theNo More Heroesseries will be featured in the Switch version ofDragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisenas one of the AI-controlled “Pawns” players can team up with over the course of the game.
The Travis Touchdown Pawn inDragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisenwill retain the character’s unique look, minus his trademark sunglasses. Travis Touchdown inDragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisenwill be equipped with a Power Glove and beam katana that he can use to fight enemies, and unlike other Pawns in the game, it seems as though players will be able to recruit him at no cost.
Suda51 announced Travis Touchdown forDragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisenin a Famitsu live-stream that was mainly focused on DLC for the Switch-exclusive gameTravis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. As part of the collaboration with Capcom,Travis Strikes Againis adding cosmetics based onDragon’s Dogma, though future DLC will also include new cosmetics based onThe Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
Having Travis Touchdown inDragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisenseems pretty random, but it’s a neat bonus for Switch owners nonetheless. It may even give those that have already played throughDragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisenon other platforms a reason to check out the Switch version - besides the added benefit of portability, of course.
As for the future of theDragon’s Dogmafranchise, we’re not sure when Capcom may release a proper sequel. We know thatDevil May Cry 5was made instead ofDragon’s Dogma 2, but now thatDevil May Cry 5is out in the wild, perhapsDragon’s Dogma 2is more likely. And if aDragon’s Dogmasequel isn’t in active development, perhaps strong sales for theDragon’s DogmaSwitch version could inspire Capcom to finally move forward on a new game in the series.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisenis out now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, with a Switch version launching on April 23.
