TheDynasty Warriorsfranchise has been going strong since way back in 1997, with the most recent title beingDynasty Warriors 9 Empireswhich releases later this month. During a recent interview, developers behindDynasty Warriors 9 Empireshave suggested that they want to visit theStar Warslicense in a similar way.

Dynasty Warriorsgames have popularized the Musou genre which focuses on overpowered heroes taking on waves of enemies, and developers at Omega Force may be looking at other franchises to explore with the Musou style. During an interview with JP Games aboutDynasty Warriors 9 Empires, producer Akihiro Suzuki hinted at a desire to visit theStar Warsfranchise in the future. Removing the potential for confusion, Suzuki also assuredDynasty WarriorsandStar Warsfans that his desire for aStar WarsMusou game is his own personal wish.

TheOmega Forceteam is familiar with handling intellectual properties outside theDynasty Warriorsfranchise, and with the producer exploring future options, it may not be long before the next crossover is announced.Dynasty Warriors 9 Empireswas released late last year in Japan, and it is set to release in the West in less than two weeks. While the next Musou title has yet to be confirmed, Suzuki did confirm during the interview that the development team is looking at “a lot of different IPs and works” to visit next.

SinceDynasty Warriorsbecame popular with each release, other game IPs have been given the Musou treatment from Omega Force and Koei Tecmo. Some of theseDynasty Warriors-style games includeFire Emblem Warriors,Dragon Quest Heroes,Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, andPersona 5 Strikers. Each title includes similar Musou combat in the corresponding universes and aStar WarsMusou game would likely share some of these similarities.

Considering the Omega Force team is familiar with visiting other franchises and that other studios beyond EA are working onStar Warsgameslately, it may not be a stretch to see the studio create aStar WarsMusou game.Dynasty Warriorstitles typically follow a stage-based approach andStar Warsgames are known for going from one location to the next in rapid succession, so aStar Warsgame may be a good fit for the format. Musou games throw swarms of enemies at players and because of how commonStar Warscharacters like Droids, Storm Troopers, and Clones are, they could represent a large portion of the enemies in a Musou interpretation.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empiresreleases on February 15 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
