Marvel Often Forgets The Side Effects Of Emma Frost’s Powers
Marvel Will Likely Focus On Emma Frost’s Otherwise Inconsistent Diamond Form
Canonically, when Emma Frost transforms into her organic diamond state, she’s supposed to be unable to feel empathy, pain, or anger. However, writers frequently bend this rule to allow her to display facial expressions, signal distress, or make emotion-driven decisions while in diamond form. These moments are usually justified by story needs, especially in team dynamics or pivotal dramatic scenes, where a completely cold, unresponsive Emma would be less narratively effective.
The physical mechanics ofEmma Frost’s diamond form have also been inconsistent. In some comics, her transformation is shown as a full-body conversion into solid diamond. In others, she bleeds when hurt in diamond form. Emma' diamond body has shattered entirely, but she has also been able to tank blows from Sentinels and other mutants without issue. Similar inconsistencies can be spotted in Wolverine’s pain threshold, the nature of Cyclops' eye beams, and the full extent of all mutant psychics' powerful abilities.
