Ewan McGregor is known for his work asObi-Wan Kenobiin theStar Warsfranchise, but the actor is no stranger to DC, having appeared in the 2020 filmBirds of Prey. So it’s not unthinkable to assume theMarvel Cinematic Universewould be the next, but McGregor doesn’t see the partnership happening.

As reported byComicBook.com, McGregor spoke at a panel during Fan Expo Boston this weekend. While on stage, he was asked about his interest in joining theMarvel Cinematic Universe, which he noted would be fun, but unlikely.

“I don’t know. I don’t know that I want to do that,” expressed McGregor. The award-winning actor went on explain that his placement in theStar Warsuniverse is enough for now. “I feel like I don’t need another… I’m not looking for that anyway.” McGregor, however, did not rule out the possibility that the relationship could formulate later on down the road. “I feel like I shouldn’t say I wouldn’t do it because in two years time you’ll be like, ‘You said you were never going to do this!’ But I’m not looking for it particularly,” expressedtheObi-Wan Kenobistar. McGregor undoubtedly feels comfortable and at home in theStar Warsuniverse, especially after his return as the emblematic Jedi master in the new Disney Plus series.

McGregor first appeared as the iconic character in the 1999 filmStar Wars: The Phantom Menaceand continued to fill the shoes of the role until the trilogy’s conclusion in 2005 withStar Wars: Revenge of the Sith. It had been over a decade since McGregor wielded the symbolic blue lightsaber when he made his much-anticipated return to the role in May with the release ofObi-Wan Kenobion Disney Plus. The series was received relatively well by viewers, earning an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, with many hoping a second season is the character’s future.

With the announcement of Marvel Studios' new slate of projects coming over the next two years, a lot remains uncertain regarding the casting decisions for emerging roles. Films such asThunderboltsandFantastic Fourhave voids that will eventually fill, so it is not completely out of the realm of possibility that McGregor could surprise audiences with an appearance in a future MCU project. Until then, audiences will have to enjoy the actor in the comfort of another long-standing universe.
