Monster Hunter Wildshas announced a new collaboration withFinal Fantasy XIVatGamescom2025, which will bring Chocobos and Omega Plenetes to the controversial RPG.

The crossover, revealed during theYouTubestream of Gamescom Opening Night Live, will bring iconicFFXIVcharacters into the world ofMonster Hunter.The update will arrive later in the fall, which means you’ll be able toride a Chocobo through the Forbidden Lands in late September.

Monster Hunter Wilds & FFXIV Have A New Crossover

Both Franchises Are Facing Issues

Monster Hunter Wildswas wildly successful when it launched in February of this year, but it alsostirred up a fair amount of controversy.Performance problems and lackluster updates caused fans to become disillusioned with the title and Capcom. PC performance issues made the game unplayable for many, causing it toget review-bombed on Steam.

Final Fantasy XIVhas had its share of issues in recent months, as well. TheMMO has come under firefor failing to keep things fresh and exciting enough, andmany fans are choosing to stop playinguntil Square Enix rethinks its update schedule and format.

Despite all these recent issues, the new collaboration between the two franchises is still awelcome sight for fans of both.Monster Hunter Wilds’mounts were already garnering comparisons to the familiar yellow bird mounts ofFinal Fantasy,so the new Seikret skins simply make sense.

Ride Chocobo Into Battle Against The Omega Weapons

This isn’t the first timeMonster HunterandFinal Fantasyhave collaborated. To celebrate theStormbloodexpansion,Monster Hunter: Worldbrought Rathalos to theFinal FantasyMMO in2018 in the “King of the Skies” event,along with matching items like armor, Tjerminions, and more.

This time, the collaboration will occur on theMonster Hunterside, with theFinal Fantasytitle loaning out some of its most iconic characters. As part of the crossover,Monster Hunter Wildsplayers will be able to ride Chocobosinto battle against monsters. The collab will also bring Omega Weapon from theFFfranchise toMHW,throwing monster hunters and their Palicos into combat against the massive mechanical creature and its devastating Wave Cannon.

There is no specific release date for this collaboration event yet, though theGamescom2025 reveal has announced that it will arrive sometime in “late September.“The brief reveal is just a glimpse of what’s coming, with more exciting crossover info on the way.
