Released originally on the PlayStation 3 back in 2012,Journeyis now being ported to Steam a full eight years after its initial release.

Journeyis a beautiful and thought-provoking game made by Thatgamecompany, the same team responsible for the well-received and experimental titlesFlowandFlower.Journeywas an incredible step up from the previous games, as upon its initial release,Journeywas met with critical and financial success. It’s hard to imagine that the development of such a successful game would have causedthe developers to file for bankruptcy.

Every last game put out by Thatgamecompany has been a Sony exclusive title, save for the company’s most recent game for iOS and Android,Sky. However, it was recently announced thatJourneywill be released on Steam later in June. This will give so many new people the opportunity to experience the beauty and majesty ofJourney.

Thanks to the help of publisher Annapurna Interactive, the same publisher who helped releaseJourneyandFloweron iOS, players will now be able to playJourneyon Steam. Annapurna Interactive is responsible for an extensive list of unique and critically acclaimed indie games. The company has also partnered with the creators ofJourneyandAbzuand iscurrently working on a new project.

Though, one question that has yet to be answered is whether any of the additional content from theJourney: Collector’s Editionwill be included in the Steam version. Obviously,FlowandFlowerwon’t be included since they haven’t been ported, but there was a lot of additional content included in the collector’s edition that some players might want to experience.

In all honesty, this game being ported to Steam is a really great thing. Not only will it give so many people the chance to experience one of the greatest narrative-driven games of all time, but will also give Steam a lot of traffic. WhenJourneyfirst released on the PlayStation Network, it became the highest-selling PSN game in history. Who’s to say that the Steam version will not share that same level of excitement from fans?

Journeyis set to release on Steam on June 11th, 2020 and is available now on PS3 and PS4.
