Without a doubt,FortniteBattle Royale has been a major boon for both Epic Games and People Can Fly, as the title’s popularity has been so massive that it seemingly causedEpic to pull the plug onParagonin order to shift the majority of its attention to the free-to-play sandbox survival release instead. Now, it looks as if the companies are set to keep giving fans fresh content, with the development team having just added a brand new limited-time mode called “Sniper Shootout”.
According to a fresh post inFortniteBattle Royale’s official subreddit, Sniper Shootout is an experience centered around sniper rifles, with all weapons on the map having been replaced by the gun type. That said, though, in a bid to make short-range encounters a little more palatable, the developers have made sure that players will also find revolvers throughout the landscape for them to keep on-hand as their trusty sidearm.

As one might expect, the standard consumables can also be found in the Sniper Shootout mode forFortnite’s Battle Royale, but grenades have been removed to ensure that the only kills counted are those coming from sniper rifles, revolvers, and melee attacks. Those interested in trying out the limited-time only mode can do so starting today, with Sniper Shootout’s availability ending this Friday, August 10, 2025.
Taking all of this into consideration, there’s no telling at this point in time whether or notFortnite’s Battle Royale will eventually receive Sniper Shootout as a permanent fixture in the game’s future. Nevertheless, the mode will likely be most popular with players who primarily enjoy pulling off well-timed skill shots, and will surely be enjoyed by those who frequent the recently added city of Tilted Towers fromUpdate 2.2.0.
Fortniteis available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
