Fortniteis a constantly evolving experience, with Epic Games adding and removing weapons on a frequent basis as it tries to balance the 100-person battle royale shooter as much as possible. The latest weapon temporarily removed from the game,the guided missile, wasn’t removed because of balancing issues, however.
As announced by Epic Games on Reddit, the guided missile is temporarily removed fromFortnitedue to an “animation issue.” Epic didn’t clarify what this issue was exactly, but it seems as though the decision to remove the weapon from the game is a popular one, if the comments on the post are anything to go by.
The guided missile seems to be one of the more controversial weapons added toFortnite, right up there with the pump shotgun. However, it doesn’t seem as though Epic plans on permanently removing the weapon from the game, so guided missile detractors shouldn’t get too excited about its temporary absence.
Perhaps fans will warm up to the guided missile the longer it’s in the game. And if not, Epic may very well decide to pull it fromFortniteentirely. After all, Epic has already said that it is willing to remove weapons and items fromFortniteand retool them if necessary. It’s not out of the question that the guided missile could receive similar treatment at some point after Epic has managed to fix whatever animation issue is currently plaguing it.
In the meantime, it will be interesting to see how fans react to some of the other new weapons and items that are making their way toFortnitein the near future. One that was recently added and has potential to be as controversial as the guided missile is thePort-a-Fort item, which allows players to instantly create a fort. While the Port-a-Fort could give less-skilled builders a better chance at winning in the game, it’s also not hard to see how it may upset veterans that took the time to masterFortnite’s building mechanics.
