While it is often ill-advised to bring a sword to a gun fight, that is not the case withFortnite’s latest addition to the battle royale mode, the Infinity Blade.Currently found at Polar Peaks in any mode, this melee weapon is absolutely devastating, and some battle royale matches are bound to turn into a race for this weapon.
That’s because the weapon completely changes up the game’s meta. TheFortniteplayer who manages to drop first and pull the sword from the stone gets the following buffs: 200 health/200 shields, 1 HP/shield per second regen, 50 HP heal upon elimination of an enemy, and 130% move speed. What’s more is that even drawing the Infinity Blade results in instant full health and shields.
Moreover, the damage output of the newFortniteweapon is incredible, with primary fire dealing a powerful sword slash that deals a solid 75 damage to players. Then, alternate fire allows players to leap great distances and deal 25 damage upon landing. The only drawback is all other inventory items are dropped and items cannot be picked up, aside from building materials. This is even easily circumvented by just dropping on Polar Peak, but nevertheless, check it out in action below:
The health buffs, the damage output, and the mobility ofFortnite’s Infinity Blade make it incredibly difficult to counter, with perhaps the only ones standing a fighting chance are those who drop elsewhere thanthe wintry biome. This would allow players to get their best loadouts before coming face-to-face with an Infinity Blade wielder, but even then, that may not be enough.
Some players are calling for the Infinity Blade to be given its own LTM, much like theThanos crossover with the Infinity Gauntlet. Others are calling for a simple nerf, as the concept of an Arthurian-like weapon inFortniteis rather unique.
Tell us, Ranters, what do you think of this new weapon? How should Epic Games handle it going forward?
Fortniteis available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
