Fortnite’s Super Showdown story event promised to be a nice way to cap off Chapter 6 Season 3, but serious lag issues that started ahead of the event have been making things a lot less fun. While it’s not uncommon for majorFortniteevents to come with some server issues, they can certainly vary in degrees of severity.

In the Reddit discussion thread for the event, players are sharing their frustrations, andSirenMixsums it up with a simple “Unplayable lmao.“Cornflaki_highlights the severity by declaring it"the worst lag [they]’ve experienced in any game ever,“andSlightlyTYPIC4Lputs a number to the frustrations by noting that their ping has spiked to “800+ at Demon’s Domain.”

Fortnite Players Are Having A Rough Time With Super Showdown

While it’s often possible to just wait out the worst in video game events,Fortnitelive events come and go too fastfor those suffering from high ping to have a clear solution in sight. It’s possible thatEpic could re-run the eventif it proves unplayable for the majority of players, but there’s no guarantee that there will be any way to experience Super Showdown after the event wraps up shortly.

The lag seems to be worse at the central areafor the event, andSlightlyTYPIC4Lrevisited the thread to share that they didn’t encounter any lag landing “outside of the zone on a mountain northeast.“Aidanj927also notes that “lag is better so far in zero buikd[sic]”, but a reply fromOptic_strike98dissents, highlighting their own ping of 767 in Zero Build.

Super Showdown Fixes Might Not Be Enough

No matter how you slice it,Fortnite’s Super Showdown event is proving roughfor many players. While connecting to servers with a high ping might be better than not being able to connect at all, it can lead to a particularly unfun game experience, especially if you end up dying for reasons entirely outside your control.

If Superman stands for anything, it’s hope, so here’s hoping that the lag situation will stabilize before the event ends. All the same,it’s unlikely that everyone currently logged in for Super Showdown will end up having a seamless time. TheFortnite StatusX account did share an update onfixing hitching issuesfor now.

Fortnite’s lag issues prove both the enduring popularity of the game and the hype that the newSupermanfilm has managed to generate around the character. On the other hand,Fortnite’s long history of success makes it difficult to excuse major issues with events, and it would be nice to see Epic properly make amends for the bad experience some players are having.
