Since the start of Season 7 inFortnite,Polar Peakhas been of particular interest for fans of the battle royale game. A massive chunk of ice has slowly been melting over the past eight weeks, revealing a large castle and various secrets within it. Now the ice is almost completely melted, and it seems as though it will soon reveal a prisoner.
The Polar Peak ice has now melted down to the castle’s dungeon, revealing chains that appear to be restraining someone, or something, frozen in the ice.Fortnitefans have speculated about the identity of this individual, which could be an enemy of the Ice King, a new special boss players will have to band together to fight, or something else entirely. At the time of writing, no one knows exactly who or what is in the ice, but fans should find out in a couple of weeks.
Some of the usual tricksFortniteplayers use to discover the game’s upcoming secrets ahead of time so far haven’t worked. For example, YouTuber FortTory successfully glitched into the ice, but was unable to find anything of interest.
Season 7 Week 8ofFortniteofficially kicks off on January 24, meaning that there are only a few weeks left of the latest battle royale season. Presumably the melting of Polar Peak will conclude over the next couple of weeks, andFortnitefans will find out exactly what the castle’s dungeons have been hiding all this time. There’s a good chance that whatever it is will be the catalyst that kicks off Season 8 of the game, and makes the usual changes to the battle royale map.
Polar Peak’s melting ice isn’t the only piece of lore that may be of interest to fans.Mysterious dragon eggshave sparked rumors thatFortnitecould very well be adding dragons to the game at some point in the future. ConsideringFortnite’s tendency to do crossover events with other big pop culture franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, perhaps the dragons will be part of aGame of Thronescrossover event in April.
