One of the least surprising moments at The Game Awards 2019 was the arrival of a new trailer for the PlayStation 4 exclusive,Ghost of Tsushima. Sucker Punch Productions had beenteasing a new trailer earlier in the weekthough fans didn’t know what exactly that would entail. Geoff Keighley’s annual award show certainly highlighted the game in an impressive and flashy segment during the awards show.
As expected, the newestGhost of Tsushimatrailer opened with a beautiful shot of a forest where a small Mongol war party confront the lead character. As the two sides began their attack, the trailer flashed back to the moment when the main character seemingly fell in battle and was reborn as the rumored Ghost of Tsushima.

The footage transitioned to cut cuts ofgameplay and loads of combat. Stylish swordplay was mixed in with new ninja tools like explosive arrows, smoke bombs, and horse attacks before cutting back to the present where the lead character has killed the Mongol attackers save for one.
In a truly cinematic moment, the trailer screen lifted as the falling leaves in the video synchronized with what appeared to be actual leaves falling on stage. As the trailer continued, the Game Awards orchestra next appeared, playing the music in the trailer live as the gameplay raged on behind them with even more beautiful shots of the environment and world. Better yet, the end of the trailer finally gave fans a long awaited release window of Summer 2020.
It’s been a massively long journey for the highly anticipated PS4 exclusive. In fact, the last time fans actually saw the game in action was the summer of 2018 first at Sony’s last E3 presentation and then a making of trailer that hit a couple months later. From there, Sucker Punch has seemingly been heads down on the ambitious title while rumors took over in the months between. Whilemany expectGhost of Tsushimato arrive on the PlayStation 5, for now, it remains a current gen exclusive.
