Gran Turismo 7is currently under fire for a few different reasons, the most important of which is the game’s inherent grindiness and the availability of substantial microtransaction options to allow players to side-step that grind. Previously, Polyphony Digital had even gone so far as to nerf certain races and events to prevent players from earning currency too quickly, but that may change soon enough.

According to Polyphony Digital’s latest blog post aboutGran Turismo 7’s ongoing issues with its in-game economy, the team is finally looking at ways to improve the player experience across the board, with the very first updates slated to come into effect in early April. The announced changes are rather comprehensive and may prove that the developer understood the community backlash after all.

Players might no longer need to look for ways toearn credits quickly inGran Turismo 7after the implementation of the changes discussed in the latest developer’s blog. Towards the start of April, Polyphony Digital is aiming to begin rolling out patches to fix the in-game economy and make organic, event-based currency acquisition a more viable choice for the average player. To that end, players should expect a variety of new reward options, as well as increased currency gains across the board, particularly in the latter half of World Circuit events.

This blog post is a continuation of thedevelopers' previous comments about microtransactions inGran Turismo 7, with the final goal being to develop the game as a fair and balanced live service experience. The developers specifically point out that they will increase the payout value of time-limited rewards, as well as add proper 24-hour races and future World Circuit events to the mix. With the credit cap now boosted to 100M Cr. and with better ways to farm credits, the game should feel more rewarding in the long run.

Though initially met with high praise and critical acclaim,Gran Turismo 7got review bombedsoon thereafter due to the late introduction of a microtransaction shop and nerfed event prizes to, presumably, increase the odds of players splurging on in-game credits rather than farming them. The fact that the game was down for over 24 hours last week didn’t help assuage the community concerns, either, asGran Turismo 7is an always-online title.

The Polyphony blog post also announced that all players who ownedGT7before March 25th and log into the game between March 25 and April 25 will also receive a one-time offer of 1,000,000 Cr. for free as a gesture of goodwill. Whether this gift and the announced changes will be enough to keep players fromprotesting against microtransactions inGran Turismo 7, however, remains to be seen.

Gran Turismo 7is now available exclusively on PS4 and PS5 consoles.
