After recent comments by 343 Industries stating it made a mistake bynot featuring Master Chief moreinHalo 5: Guardiansin favor of splitting time between the beloved protagonist and Agent Jameson Locke, a new character tasked with hunting him down. Many assumed the timing of the announcement hinted that a Master Chief focusedHalo 6would be leading the charge on Project Scorpio next month at E3 2017. While that doesn’t appear to be the case, fans also hopping to see an anniversary edition ofHalo 3the way the first two games were remade are also out of luck.
Posting on Reddit under the handle ske7ch343, 343 Industries community manager, Brian Jarrad, left a pretty direct reply to a fan speculating on Reddit thatHalo 3 Anniversarywould be theHalogame featured at this year’s Microsoft E3 event. Essentially, Jarrad made it very clear that there is noHalo 3 Anniversary.
“OMG stop. There is no Halo 3 Anniversary.”
BothHaloandHalo 2received special Anniversary editions that featured completely remastered campaigns and multiplayer, along with a bunch of extras including the ability to seamlessly switch between remastered and classic graphics. Unfortunately, even though many fans continue to hold out hope, this news shouldn’t come as a surprise as the studio has previously mentioned thatit’s not working onHalo 3 Anniversaryof any kind.
Speculation ran wild this past weekend once the news broke thatHalo 6will not be at E3 this yearand that 343 Industries teased it would still have a little something to show related to a different project. Considering thatHalo 3originally released 10 years ago, fans began to assume that a 10 year anniversary edition would be ready to go in celebration. For now, it appears that fans will only be able to play Bungie’s classic shooter right from the Xbox 360 or the previously released Xbox One compilation,Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
