The primary conflict ofHazbin Hotelis shifting for season 2, as recently teased by the show’s creator.Hazbin Hotelseason 2is coming to Amazon Prime Video on Jun 05, 2025, following up on Princess Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen) and her found family’s efforts to redeem sinners after their defeat of Adam (Alex Brightman).
However,Hazbin Hotelseason 1 set up some other intriguing subplots, with Charlie’s facilities manager Alastor (Amir Talai) clearly harboring ulterior motivesand hiding much about his past. We do know that he has a long-standing rivalry with “the Vees” — a trio of powerful overlords and media titans in Hell — especially their spokesman Vox (Christian Borle).

At the Hellaverse’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, whereScreenRantwas in attendance,Hazbin Hotelcreator Vivienne Medrano discussed how Vox is essentially the main villain of season 2.“He’s a lot more of a present villain than Adam,” said Medrano, hinting that the focus will shift to battles within Hell. Check out the comments from the panel below:
Vivienne Medrano: There’s a lot of Vox in this season […]

Amir Talai: It will be interesting for some people to watch […]
Vivienne Medrano: I liked [Vox] originally. He’s a villain, I like villains. I like all the Vees, for the record [..] But what was fun is that, focusing on one of them, he obviously makes sense because he’s the de facto leader – or at least he thinks he is – and what’s fun about having a villain this season, like who Vox is and also just his role in the season, what’s exciting for me is that he’s a lot more present of a villain than Adam was in season 1.
Medrano also teased thatVox’s abilities to spin stories would come into play, and that a major Charlie vs. Vox moment is on the horizon. However, first, season 2 will almost certainly exploreAlastor’s backstory with Vox, Velvette (Lilli Cooper), and Valentino (Joel Perez).
What Vox’s Expanded Villainous Role Means For Hazbin Hotel Season 2
The Conflict With Heaven May Take A Backseat For A Time
Medrano’s additional comments on Vox came with the new information aboutPatrick Stump’s Abel inHazbin Hotelseason 2, and a picture of the sophomore outing is starting to come together. What’s interesting going into season 2 is thatCharlie and co. have proven that redemption is possible, as Sir Pentious (Brightman) “died” and then ascended to Heaven.
Vivienne Medrano’s Hellaverse consists ofHazbin HotelandHelluva Boss, another animated show set in the same iteration of Hell, focusing on a different set of characters.
Having been forced to accept this truth, Heaven might still find a lot of bureaucratic ways to stall Charlie’s mission. While she speaks with angels like Abel and Emily (Shoba Narayan), the tensions in Hell could take center stage. Following Alastor being overpowered by Adam in theHazbin Hotelseason 1 finale, the Vees see a chance to seize more power.
Hazbin Hotelhas already been renewed for seasons 3 and 4,so it makes sense for the writers to be planning a long-term story. Season 2 could be the one to explore all the nuances of the dynamics between Alastory, Vox, Velvette, and Val, perhaps before bringing Heaven and Lilith into focus again later on.
Our Take On Vox Being The Main Villain Of Hazbin Hotel Season 2
“The Future Of Hell Belongs To The Vees…”
The Vees are objectively awful, but so are most flamboyant villains who are still liked by their creators and audiences.Vox’s musical face-off with Alastor in season 1’s “Stayed Gone” is chaotic, maniacal, and hilarious, and hints at so much baggage between the two of them. Thus, season 2 can satisfy audiences by revealing everything about this rivalry.
I know it would drive everyone crazy if the clarification of what is going on with Lilith were put off until next season, though it may make sense for the overall pacing ofHazbin Hotel. However, this season is sure to be deliciously hellish with Vox taking center stage, and taking the Vees down will effectively keep the entire hotel occupied.
