Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republicis nearly 17-years-old, but it’s clear that it remains incredibly popular. Today, May the 4th otherwise known as Star Wars Day, the game started trending on Twitter. And while Star Wars has been all over the platform today, for new additions like an Inquisitor Cal skin toStar War Jedi: Fallen Orderor the announcement of anewStar Warsmovie helmed by Taika Waititi, it’s interesting that the game is still in a conversation.
Interesting, but not surprising as the game has had a cult following ever since its release. It spawn a follow-up that was almost as popular (depending on who was asked), an MMO, a plethora of extended universe content, and more. Conversations to this day regardingStar Warsmedia will often bring up Revan’s name, as many still argue whether or not theStar Wars: Knights of the Old RepublicJedi Master or Sith Lord is canon or not, butStar Wars: Rise of Skywalkerseemingly confirms this.

Regardless, Revan and his game are incredibly popular and that’s exactly why he’s trending today. It seems the trend originated from a few gaming andStar Wars-focused platforms that asked what the bestStar Warsgame of all time is, fitting for May the 4th.Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republicwas pitted against the likes ofStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Republic Commando, Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, andStar Wars: Battlefront 2, among others. And since it’s the one trending, it appears to be the clear winner.
Unfortunately, many like saw the trend and hoped that a newStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republicgame had been announced, as this was the reason behind manyStar Wars-related trends today. That’s not the case. Many understandably clamor for a new game, withBioWare reportedly teased withKOTOR 3once, but it’s never manifested.
As such, a continuation of the series seems less likely by the day, but stranger things have definitely happened. It clearly has the fan base, yetKOTOR’s remains an enigma, unlike its presence as many’s “bestStar Wars game of all time.”
