Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) in armor in House of the Dragon season 2

We’re right in the middle of production. We’ve wrapped Wales, we’re moving on to some huge things now that we’ve got going at the studio and then other locations that we’re working on, so we’ve moved into that part of the schedule. It gets pretty nuts here through July and August. So I will be rushing off to set tomorrow to do the beginning of some insane things that we’re doing this month. But yeah, we’re right in the middle in the thick of it, and it’s going great. I mean, the season is just Godd**n huge. Every day I walk around there and look at the things that we’re building and the things that we’re doing and the number of costumes and extras and all that…I knew it was bigger than season 2, but I don’t think I realized quite how much.

What House Of The Dragon’s Production Update Says About Season 3

Many Game-Changing Events Are About To Play Out

House of the Dragonseason 2 endedwithRhaenyra and Daemon amassing their army, prepared to move toward King’s Landingand fight against the Greens. In the meantime, Alicent Hightower traveled to Dragonstone in hopes of stopping the war; however, her former friend insisted Aegon would need to die for there to be any end to the fighting.

Season 3 is promising to have an even wider vision than season 2, not just with what’s going on in the war.Aegon himself has left King’s Landingdespite the mobilization of the Greens' armies, while the show has also teased the return of Otto Hightower in his own storyline. This echoes Condal’s sentiments about how massive season 3 is.

Our Take On House Of The Dragon Season 3’s Newest Production Update

Condal’s Statements Are Good Signs For The Show’s Future

Condal’s update is promising, especially after the second half of season 2 slowed the storydown considerably. However, with all the pieces in place for the conflict to come, season 3 will likely be an action-packed thrill ride that delivers on all the elements of the series' built-up war. It’ll also likely follow closely events that transpired in the book.

As for how the show will approach these events, it sounds like there will be many action sequences thatwill pay off the escalation of the series' conflict. Much has happened so far regarding the war, but now that it’s finally in full swing,House of the Dragoncan more readily reveal everything it’s been building to for so long.

House of the Dragonseason 3 is expected to arrive in 2026 on HBO and HBO Max.
