Animal Crossing: New Horizonsis filled with plenty of bugs for players to catch and either donate to the museum or sell. For players in the Northern Hemisphere,one bug will be leaving after Mayand that is the mole cricket.
While some players haven’t seen the elusive bug, many players have definitely heard it. Even when it is not visible, the bug makes a distinct noise similar to that of a cicada.

Mole crickets were inAnimal Crossingsince the original game and have returned inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. They generally prefer the colder months as they appear from November to May in the Northern Hemisphere and from May to November in the Southern Hemisphere.
In order to find and catch this bug,players need to listen out for it. Mole crickets make a sound similar that sounds like quick, but low pitched chirping. From there, players should take out their shovel and slowly walk around until they hear where it seems to be at its most loud.
Once players believe they’ve found the loudest spot, they should use their shovel to dig around the area until the mole cricket pops out when a hole is being dug up. Then players should quickly take out their nets and catch it before it despawns.
Mole crickets only go for a base price of 500 bells when being sold to Nook’s Cranny, but they will have a nice personal spot in the back of the bug section of themuseum after being donated.
It is recommended that players fill in holes after digging them if no mole cricket comes out, as too many holes can become obstacles when it comes to actually catching the creature. Catching all bugs is highly recommended, as after the bug section of the critterpedia is filled, players will be able to get therecipe for the gold net. The gold net is far more sturdy than any other net available inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.
