It’s almost time for the Super Bowl 54, and across the US families and friends are getting ready for the big day. The game itself will kick off between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami at 6:30pm ET. For those planning to stream the game and its famoushalf-time showfrom their PS4 however, things won’t be quite the same as last year.

In the2019 Super Bowl, PlayStation owners were able to stream the game on PlayStation Vue,  Sony’s PlayStation TV system. This is no longer an option, as Vue was shut down this year. Fortunately, for those PS4 owners who still want to use their console to stream the game, there are still options available.

YouTube TV

Given that the PlayStation console lacks any proper kind of Fox Sports app, the easiest way of streaming the Super Bowl following the demise of Vue is through YouTube TV. In fact, during the Vue shut-down PlayStation actually recommended YouTube TV as an alternative to their service. YouTube TV gives live TV access to a wide range of channels, including those needed to watch the Super Bowl.

To get started with YouTube TV, first PS4 owners will need to download their app, which is available on the store. After this, they’ll need an active subscription to the YouTube TV service in order to access all its features, including the Super Bowl channel. Thankfully, there is a free trial available, provided that the account hasn’t used one before. If even a free trial is too much work, PS4 owners can always just playMadden, andpredict the resultsfor themselves.

Streaming the Game

It’s worth remembering that YouTube TV and YouTube Premium are separate services, and PS4 owners won’t need the latter to stream the Super Bowl. YouTube Premium doesn’t include live TV, so is no good to us here, especially becauseSuper Bowl commercialsare part of the experience. PS4 owners should also ensure to check that their local Fox channel is available on YouTube TV before subscribing, as this can vary from area to area.
