One of the most intriguing subplots of theHarry Potterseries has been sorely neglected, so it absolutely must be included in the upcoming TV remake. HBO has advertised this new project as a faithful adaptation of author J.K. Rowling’s books, which means the nuance of Harry’s story can finally be brought to the screen. However, theHarry PotterTV show is also a chance to dive deeper into those subtle subplots.

TheHarry Potterbooksare told mainly from Harry’s point of view, but we get several hints about other characters' more private journeys. Much of this was missing from Warner Bros' movies, since the limited time allotted for each installment made it necessary to focus on only the key details. A TV show, on the other hand, has a little more wiggle room.

The Black Sisters

We can surely expect additional stories and perspectives in theHarry Potterremake, which is especially good news for the Marauders generation. Harry’s parents and their peers were key in the First Wizarding War, both on the side of good and among Voldemort’s forces. I’m desperate to see these stories brought to the screen in more detail—especially those of the three Black sisters.

The Harry Potter Remake May Be Our Only Chance To Get The Full Story Of The Black Sisters

TheHarry Potterbooks introduced us to the Black sisters: Bellatrix, Andromeda, and Narcissa. They were Sirius Black’s cousins, and the trio initially represented everything that this magical family stood for. They were pure-blood and powerful, and both Bellatrix and Narcissa went on to marry men from other pure-blood families. However, Andromeda disgraced the family by marrying a Muggle-born.

Harry knew of the Black sisters and Andromeda’s betrayal in theHarry Potterbooks. He met Andromeda, her husband, Ted Tonks, and became very well acquainted with their daughter, Nymphadora Tonks. However, Harry never dwelt on their story. There’s so much more to learn here, andtheHarry Potterremake could greatly benefit from linking all these pieces together.

Bellatrix’s reverence for Voldemort, Narcissa’s motherhood, and Andromeda’s forbidden romance represent different forms of love, each with their own sort of power.

The Black sisters' stories perfectly reflect many of theoverarching themes ofHarry Potter. Bellatrix’s reverence for Voldemort, Narcissa’s motherhood, and Andromeda’s forbidden romance represent different forms of love, each with their own sort of power. It’s a subplot that deserves far more attention, andHBO’s remake would be painfully lacking if this story is neglected as it was in the films.

The Black Sisters' Stories Would Make The Ending Of The Harry Potter TV Show More Impactful

My hope is that theHarry Potterremake will include a flashback episode that would give us a look into the Black sisters' upbringing. We could see what their relationship was like as children, and how each sister’s story was determined by the different sorts of love they experienced. Said and done, seeing the trio’s origins on screen would make their respective endings that much more powerful.

The Black sisters did terrible damage to one another, each for the sake of their own type of love. Andromeda, of course, betrayed her sisters and married a Muggle-born. Bellatrix murdered Andromeda’s daughter, eager to prove to her master that she despised her sister’s betrayal. Narcissa lied to Voldemort to save Draco, ultimately leading to the Dark Lord and Bellatrix’s deaths.

TheHarry Pottermovies, andeven the books, didn’t draw much attention to the irony and tragedy that were the Black sisters' endings. It’s a story of how love can build and destroy—another example of this force’s power in theHarry Potterseries. It absolutely must be brought to the screen.
