NetherRealm Studios surprised a lot of fans last week with its latest downloadable reveal trailer forInjustice 2. While many were initially disappointed with a secondMortal Kombatcharacter being added to the roster, many appeared to accept the addition onceRaiden’s over-the-top super movewas revealed along with the alternative Black Lightning premier skin. While the thunder god isn’t scheduled to arrive until October, NetherRealm released update 1.09, which not only addresses a number of issues with the game, but also paves the way for Raiden’s addition.

In addition to numerous gameplay, design, and character-specific changes, theInjustice 2update also addresses a number of issues with the new Legendary Multiverse Portals that were introduced into the game earlier this month. Seven additional characters now have access to these unique events including Black Adam, Brainiac, Catwoman, Deadshot, Flash, Scarecrow, andSupergirl.

Intended to be played by the most hardcore of fans, the high requirements needed to access these unique events have been lowered a little. Thusly, the number of minutes fans are required to playInjustice 2have been reduced from 3,000 and 7,000 to 1,000 and 3,000. NetherRealm Studios still hasn’t revealed Raiden’s official launch date, but he is expected to arrive sometime in the first two weeks of October. In terms of Black Lightning, the studio is givingUltimate Editionowners a special treat, as the premier skin will be available to use right out of the gate. Everyone else can unlock the skin by spending source crystals in game.
