The Rave’N dance inWednesdayseason 1, episode 4 culminated in the hit Netflix show’s most viral scene yet, and season 2 officially has its answer to keep the dance-related momentum going. Dating back further than Morticia and Gomez’s time at the school,Nevermore Academy hosts an annual dance called the Rave’N, with season 1’s iteration including the internet-viral moment of Jenna Ortega’sWednesday Addams dancing to “Goo Goo Muck.”
Ahead of its release on August 6, Netflix dropped theofficial trailer forWednesdayseason 2, which includes glimpses at yet another dance for the students to attend. However, this year’s dance forNevermore Academy’s Outcastsappears to be a different event from season 1’s Rave’N, revealinga new, revamped version of the social occasionthan previously seen.

Wednesday Season 2’s Masquerade Ball Will Be Its Replacement For Season 1’s Rave’N Scene
Nevermore Trades Season 1’s “Climate Crisis” For A Renaissance Theme
Considering how popularWednesdayseason 1’s dance scenebecame, it was more of a guarantee than a hope that another would follow in season 2. However, the Tim Burton-directed series is heading on a different route than expected for the sophomore outing, asWednesdayseason 2’s trailer reveals its dance will be a masked ballrather than the more casual Rave’N.
InWednesdayseason 2’s trailer, Jenna Ortega’s titular character is seen donning another black dress at a masquerade while those around her wear masks and Renaissance-era attire. This is a big shift fromthe Rave’N theme in season 1, “climate crisis meets extinction event,”which saw all students (except Wednesday) wear white attire surrounded by icy, tundra-esque decor.

The dance during Wednesday’s return to Nevermore Academy appears warmer, but, of course, the masks and elaborate costumes are bound to contribute to more chaos and deception in season 2’s new mystery. With thePhantom of the Operatheme playing overWednesdayseason 2’s trailerand masked ball teases, some dark twists at the event appear to be a given.
This year’s dance also has some notable differences from season 1’s Rave’N in terms of the attendees. Not only are students and staff there, butWednesday’s iconic Addams family membersMorticia and Gomez are also dressed the part, withGrandmama being escorted through the event on an elegant chair.
Wednesdayseason 2, part 1 releases on June 12, 2025, followed by part 2 on September 3.
It seems safe to say thatWednesdayseason 2’s Rave’N replacement sequence will be far darker and more consequential than season 1’s occasion. Though the previous Rave’N ended withCarrie-like “blood” raining down on the students in a prank byJericho’s local Normies, it looks like some dangerous Addams family secrets from multiple generations will be uncovered before the curtains close on season 2’s dance.
Wednesday Wears Another Iconic Black Dress For Season 2’s Ball – But Will She Do Another Choreographed Dance?
Wednesday’s Season 1 Dance Made The Show Quickly Go Viral
In typicalWednesday Addams fashion, her masquerade costume is all-black, reminiscent of the dress she wore for the Rave’N in season 1. While we see Wednesday walking around the ball in a tense state, doubtlessly working on an investigation amid the festivities, it’s stillunclear whether she’ll be involved in a choreographed dancesimilar to her “Goo Goo Muck” performance.
Since it’s a masquerade, Nevermore Academy may opt for more classical and instrumental-style music rather than pop and punk tracks played by a DJ. If so, wecould see Wednesday do a dance to the trailer’sPhantom of the Operathemeor similar gothic compositions.
It’s been teased thatGomez will have a dance scene inWednesdayseason 2, but no official word on whether Jenna Ortega will do so again. However, considering Jenna Ortega was a main contributor in Tim Burton’s “MacArthur Park” dance scene inBeetlejuice 2, the director-actress duo may have been convinced to devise another viral choreographic follow-up atWednesdayseason 2’s masked ball.
